If so how hard would it be to make a program or Database type file to work under Palm OS to help you track resources? I use a pad of paper now and it gets messy and takes up tons of room. Maybe a DB file with teh planets and some of the resuorces listed (Like Polysteel Copper) and then people could just plug in the stats. Any help would be appreciated. Other hten this I have to create some kind of form in Word to make tracking neater and easier to track.

Thanks

Have you checked out www.swgcraft.com? They track resource stats over all the servers/planets. Although you do have to alt-tab out of the game, which I've heard causes problems for some people.

Well I use an older program called ThinkDB to make Palm Databases. It's fairly easy to work with if you know anything about databases at all (I'm hardly a whiz with them and I can do it). I use it to keep track of my rare item collection in game, and what things I still need to find.

Sadly that program is no longer being distributed, but there are several similar Palm database creation programs now that should do the trick. The way most of them work is thatthere is the databaseprogram itself, and then you download or create individualdatabases that run in it and keep track of whatever you want.If I had one of thenewer, more common (but that would still run on my older Visor Deluxe) programs,I could probably put one together for you in about a half hour. But it probably won't be that hard for you to learn to do it yourself, and then you can make your own Palm databases for all kinds of things, which is really useful.

I'm a Palm programmer (in spare time, not full time), always looking for ideas for new apps. Have you tried the database creation utility that was mentioned in an earlier reply? Was that good enough, or would you like a custom SWG resources app? Might not be a bad idea...

Havn't trie dthe other app yet. Although I'm sure a custom one sould be great. I'm not sure how many would use it. I've been to SWGcraft since it just got back up and all of the resources are wayyyyy out of date.

What I was looking for is something to replace my presonal RL notepad. With the ability to easily click through the types and subtypes of resources and enter the data needed for the resources. Maybe it can be worked around with the person who runs SWGCraft and the DB could be up or down loaded from their DB to yours. Making it easy for everyone involved. No need to enter the resurces and have the possibilty of number sbeing transposed or left out. Just an idea.

Check out this site, you can order custom software development. Over 30,000 programmers there, I'm sure there is at least one that can get the job done.

I checked out rentacoder.com and wow, the max $ on most of the bids isn't hardly worth a coder's time. Too bad, it's a nice idea and I know there are others trying to do it.

Yep ... I'm a coder and have tried to use such sites in the past and either a) the person wanting a job is offering too little (when I posted what I thought was a fair price, I got a complaint that it couldn't possibly take more than two hours to write the code ... if you know so much, write it yourself) or b) some college student says, "Oh, I did that for a class project I'll let you have the code for $50."

Wow ... what a run-on ... I must still be bitter ...

Anyway, I am working in my copious free time on a desktop program for doing crafting shopping lists as well as tracking resource inventories. It was my intention of adding the ability to input resource information on a Palm and import it into the program via a conduit. I already store the resource information in an XML format of my own devising (working on an automated import for SWGCraft's Current Resources XML, but that's delayed due to the site's issues).

When I get anywhere near beta ... I'm sure I'll be looking for testers ...
