Thread: Clothing Attachments and Sockets

Okay, I need to know how these things work. I'm posting here, because this my general profession right now. I bought a travel pack with 4 sockets available, and just made boots with 2 sockets available. Both of these are considered "clothing" items, correct? Well, I have a skill-enhancing clothing attachment. How do I use this? Is it something used when CREATING clothes, or something put onto sockets? Or is there something else that goes into sockets? Dropping the attachment onto the pack only stolres it on the pack. And dropping it on the boots wasn't possible (it was the crossed-out circle.)

Can someone explain sockets and attachments to me, please?

Thank you.

I am not sure about the Backpack, but there are other cloths that have Sockets available which you can drag&drop Skill Tapes and Clothing Attachments into.

If you check out the Trade Forums there are always a bunch of people Auctioning off Skill Tapes and Clothing/Armor Attachments.

I haven't heard of tapes. This attachment looks like a bone-armor segment: Octogonal square with three rectangular bars on one side, flat on the other. There is no information on it other than it is Pistol +1 and it's volume is 1. No manufacturer name or anything. It may have been a reward for a mission. It won't attach to my boots, which have two sockets. I have a jacket with sockets I can try it on.

Thanks for the info.

Okay, I made a pair of bone-armour boots. I was then able to put the attachment onto those. So, apparantly, it is an armour attachment, even though it says clothing.

I would still like more information on attachments and sockets. How are attachments (and tapes?) made, and by whom? How come the hide boots I made got sockets on them, but my casual pants don't? How come clothing can't be experimented on?

Thanks

The attachment you had may have been from a while ago. The patch in Oct or Nov changed the names of these to indicate what they're supposed to go into, before that they all said "clothing attachment", even the armor ones. Armor attachments look like a plate, clothing attachments look like a roll of tape.

Skill attachments only drop as loot, they aren't craftable by anyone. And the number of sockets in a piece is random, although as you get higher skills in armorsmith or tailor, the related items have a better chance at getting sockets, and more of them.

Clothing can't be experimented on because there aren't any stats to be improved. They used to have a "durability" category, but with the changeto decay that was removed.

Now, there are also tissues created by Bioengineers that can be included in tailor components. These work similar to skill attachments, but have to be used during the crafting of the component. And even though these components are used in both clothing and armor, only clothing gets the benefits. So a "+14 warcry" synthetic cloth won't make any difference if it's used in a piece of Mabari armor.

Thank you very much, this is most useful. It does kind of suck that enhancers only drop as loot, there should be some sort of craftable "powerup" for clothing and armour. And yes, my attachment was probably obtained in August or July. I haven't played in a few months, until just before Christmas. This might also explain why I was able to make whitish casual pants back then, but can only make greenish ones now.

Thanks again.
