I am currently at 4-4-4-1 in Artisian and trying to grind the Survey skills. What would you recommend for me to Survey to get the best XP? I have my macro all set up already.

then you're all set to get the big 24-28 exp per sample lol

just find a 88-91% spot and leave the machine running while you sleep

You get XP for sampling, not surveying like the name suggests.

Since the amount of XP is determined by your successes, you are better off 'sampling' a high percentage resource. While you are sampling, make it something you can sell like a metal or water or fruit.

Unlike harvestors, you can sample in the middle of a city (which reduces your risk of being jumped by NPCs)

I think you get Survey XP from using harvesters too though right?

Correct, you only get survey XP for sampling and not for using your harvesters.
