Can anyone offer some instruction on buying, getting, running, and maintaining a factory? I'm a merchant trying to help a friend mass produce his wares. Any and all help is much appreciated.

There are several types of Factories. All factories need maintaince and power. That's all they need.

It's not as complicated as it sounds. The hardest part is making sure you buy the right factory for what you want to mass produce. One can cost anywhere from 25k-50k, depending on which server you are on.

Four types:

equipment- tents, artisan components, auk, wuk, molecualr clamps, etc...

Structure- duh

Food & Chemical- food, spices, stim components, stims, etc...

wearables- armor, sythetic cloths, fiberplast panels, clothes, etc..

Make sure you keep them powered-up and full of cash, these do shut down when they run out. Keep track of your resources.Try not to screw yourself over by using the same resource on too many schematics, unless you have a ton of it.

You can trade schematics. So if someone else can make something you want, see if you can get a schematic. Becareful though, depending on the item, it could cost youa lot, and some people just don't like selling schematics of something they can make a ton of credits on.Remember, they are doing you a favor, no matter how much you offer them. (These are the people I make schematics for over and over)

Schematic can be removed and used again, as long as you did not do the whole run, which is 1000. It will require the sameEXACT resources, this is why you have to keep track of what your using.

The factory will give you the run time on a single piece when you examine it. So check it out, and keep track of your time so you can keep the factory going.

Hope that helps. I felta little lost when I first started using one myself.

I've been using a factory to make stims. I find it really handy to have a backpack in the house that is labeled "STIMS SUPPLIES" in red (so I don't get it confused with anything else). I then put in that backpack the resources that I require for making Stim-B's, including the components. I put enough in there to do as many runs as possible on all four schematics (up to the 1000 total runs possible). Of course, I don't really get 1000 Stim-B's, since I have to use a few of the components to make the schematic for the final stim's, but you get the idea. That way, I don't have to worry about accidentally using some resource that I will need in a few days or weeks. So far, it has worked very well, and I can alternate component runs with final product runs, thus keeping a regular supply of stims coming out.

Don't let the negative AFKophobes get you down. Play the game however you want.

When putting items into a factory.. can you put them in as crates? Things like weapons, grenades, stims, etc....that require another manufactured item.

You can use crates as feed in a factory if you used a crated item to make the schematic you are using. The schematic will then have the crate serial number as the resource that it requires.

I kind of new to the game and I have a question regarding skill requirements to run a factory. I understand that one needs to have a skill to produce a schematics. But do one need to have a skill to load the schematic into factory and to turn the production on?

Thanks for the info. Was wondering about that since have some items that require other crafted items and it is easier to make them in factory by the crates.

No. You can buya schematic off any profession and run it, as long as you have the exactresources and the factory.

A medic could run houses in a structure factory if he wanted to.

Yes, FActories recognize crated sub-components.

It's like 5% of normal xp and you have to be sitting next to the factory.
