Thread: What do you look for in chemicals?

I'm looking at opening a chemical vendor (note: only chemicals) and I was wondering what chemicals are most sought after and what qualities you artisans look for in those chemicals.

I've looked through a number of schematics and it looks like most things artisans are dependent upon a few attributes, Overall Quality, Decay Resistance, and Unit Toughness. However, for most schematics, effectiveness (which seems to be the most highly prized experimentation means) is only dependent upon Overall Quality.

So, what is it that artisans are after? Are you just after resources with high OQ ratings? I see a number of things require polymers, but some others have the more broad Chemical requirement. What resources do you normally use for those? Are there any particular chemicals (or qualities of chemicals) that you're always in need of?

Thanks for any help.

It's all OQ for me. All the things I make on a regular basis that needs chemical needs OQ, CD or OQ and CD, but chemical don't have CD, so it's all OQ.

Forgot to add..

Most of the time any chem will do, but occasionally I'll need polymer specifically. Most of the things in the Domestic Arts line requires fiberplast. I think that's all the specific types of chem that Artisans need.

For me its all about the OQ as I use them to make stim packs

You want specifics?

Let's see: Tatooinian Fiberplast: OQx2, PE, UT

Class 4 Liquid Petro: OQx2, PE

...This list goes on...Oh wait, you can READ the list yourself. www.swgcraft.com

Actually, there is a reason I asked this in the ARTISAN forum. I happen to be a master doctor so I know just what is needed to make stimpacks and the like. I was really asking about the items that can be crafted by artisans.

And I've done my research on swgcraft.com. How do you think I knew that most things craftable by artisans was dependent upon OQ? However, without having done a lot of the crafting, it's hard to know exactly what is in demand. For example, without having done a lot of medical crafting, it would be difficult for someone to determine that the best inorganics for a doctor don't require UT, only high OQ, or that OQ and PE are EQUALLY important to Dantooine Berries, not 66%/33% as the schematic would lead you to believe. The list goes on...

It's because of these little quirks that I was asking the question. For example, the ExperimentalEffectiveness of a Power Conditioner (made by a Master Artisan) if based on OQ (100%) while the Experimental Durability relies on Unit Toughness. But, what swgcraft.com DOESN'T tell me is what artisans experiment on when they make these things. If I were to guess, I'd imagine that they experiment on Effectiveness and then ignore Durability, but I can't know that without being a master artisan.

Therefore, I'm simply asking, what do you look for in your chemicals? Do you only care about OQ? That would be my guess and it appears that most folks are affirming that.

But, but, we're not Combat Medics.. we don't need Class 4 Liquid Petro.

And I actuallyfind allakhazam better in this regard. Easier to look through the tree, where all the chemicals are grouped together, instead of the alphabetical drop down list swgcraft has.
