Now I'm as guilty as anyone of accidentally destroying a harvester. But this random 6 digit code is ridiculous. It's like passng a sobriety test. And by the way, yes, I have been drunk at the keyboard and unable to redeed my harvester.
What's wrong with something like the "surrender skills" system. What is wrong with typing in "yes?" We're not unlocking secret information from the Pentagon here - it's just a harvester.

Feel free to blame me for the 6-digit confirmation code to re-deed a harvester.
I suggested it a long ways back when accidentally destroying a harvester without having enough to re-deed it was an issue.
I actually like the idea, because i HAVE played drunk, and nearly destroyed a 130k hopper BER13 harv before.
The confirmation code saved my ass because even though there was red text everywhere saying it wont re-deed
i kept plodding through the re-deed process anyways. I messed up on the random numbers, and saved my harvester
its a minor PITA, and the only thing that would improve it is to remove the confirmation for structures that WILL re-deed,
leaving it only to pop-up when picking up the structure will destroy it.

Agreed. What is silly is that you can destory the "valuable harvester" with 2 clicks once you have it in your inventory. A simple "yes" as you suggest would be as safe and much less hassle. I would further suggest that even this extra step is ONLY needed if the harvester will NOT redeed. The point here is to ensure that you don't delete a harvester by accident - not whether you accidentally pull up the harvester (pretty hard to confuse redeeding with collecting recources...)

My bank PIN code is only 4 digits, and that has my life savings in it. Overkill me thinks

Agree, I don't think they know what 'user interface design' is. Must have been the office junior who was left unsupervised when this was done.

I don't even agree with the whole "Destroy" in order to re-deed your harvester, factory or house. What's wrong with just allowing a re-deed of the structure and then if you ACTUALLY want to delete it you can take the extra step of using the radial menu and selecting "Delete" from your inventory??
I mean, who came up with delete=re-deed anyways?
Overkill indeed.

How lazy are you to withdraw your items from the stock room?
Thats my point they haven't thought about 'user interface design' in the iterations they have made on the code.

It may be a pain.. but it's a huge improvement over "redeed and destroy in a click, oops, you have no room? Oh well... *poof*"
A lot of people were losing large investments that way...

Is it really too difficult or time consuming to read a 6-digit number and type that in a dialog box? Better safe than sorry.

Would it be too difficult to make that 6-digit number just a little bit larger? Some of us older-types don't see as well as we used to. I don't mind typing it in, I mind trying to read it in the first place.

How friggin lazy are you to type 6 friggin digits? personally im glad this system is in place, because if i ever destroyed a harvesters im kick my own ass. i only wish that when i withdraw a sale from my vendor it automatically goes into my invetory instead of the stockroom, i destroyed my vendor with at least a mils worth or cr, ha ha learned that lesson the hard way.
