Does anyone do anything like this for a type of business?

I'm a master Doc/CM (going to Master CM), but dont have the points for surveying.

I'd like to find an artisan who was wanting to make money from time to time, by selling me WP's to resources I specify.

It wouldn't be a one time deal, it would more than likely be an often thing, when resources became available I was interested in.

So, If you're on Wanderhome and are interested in something like this, please post here or Pm me or send a gmail to Smaury ingame.

Thank you.

I just thought of doing this the other day. I newbie player came up and asked me if I had a waypoint for metal. I gave it to him, since he didn't look like he had much money, but in the back of my mind I was think that I should charge for this sort of thing. The thing is how much is that sort of thing worth? How do you price it? Obviously it would be basedon resource quality but what's a fair price?

Not really sure how you could charge.

It would have to be set on a few factors.

-the quality of resource

-how crowded the spot is

-the percentage of the spot

I"ve heard of some WP's selling anywhere between 100K - 300K.

Not sure about those numbers, but depending on the resource, a good WP would be worth quite a bit of money to someone with no surveying skill.

I have charged as little as 50k, and gotten as much as 125k, for a single wp to a resource. Charge should be somewhat dependent upon the planet, as some planets are much easier to survey than others. Ore and water, look for a 50 to 60% spot as being good, generally all others you will be looking for a 75 to 85% spot as being good. Some spawns are just not good, and you can spend all day just to find a 70% spot.

You need to know the terrain of all planets, and only try surveying in those areas where you can actually put down a harvester. It does you no good to survey in mountainous areas, so don't even try. Try to have at least one free lot, and an extra harvester, so you can "try out" the harvester (but not use), and make sure that the area is green before sending the wp to your customer.

Always find out the resource, which planets it is spawning on, and how many (and what type) of harvester the customer will be using.

Keep track of the percentages you are finding on the planet, and where they are, by naming your resource survey once you find a high spot. I just use the % number, and then I keep it active, so that I can look at a world map and see exactly where I found highs, and where they were. Keeps me from circling around and hitting the same spot a second time by accident. I also keep the highest, and second highest, spots in my datapad for about a week after I send it to my customer, because they have been known to "accidentally" lose the wp.

Set up a macro so you can dismount from your vehicle, survey, and then remount, with one keystroke. It can really help to have maskscent, and be wearing maskscent clothing, to avoid unfortunate interactions with the indigenous creatures.

When you send the wp to your customer, let them know how the field is oriented, if they are puting in more than about 3 harvesters. It may spread more heavily to the north and east, for instance. Your customer will probably have no surveying skills, and for multiple harvesters, it can be important for them to know which way to spread out from the wp.

Don't let the negative AFKophobes get you down. Play the game however you want.

Is the beta testing almost over for this game?
