Okay so I have a crafting tool that is rated at 14.97 and when I craft my own the highest I can get is 14.88 and that is all with copper of conductivity 996. I use some chemical with no conductivity rating. My question is how do I get my crafting toolsabove 14.88, do I just need to get the extra 4 points? I guess I could try using some of my 999 conductivity copper but I am sort of saving that for a specialtime and I only have like 1.5k of that stuff where as I have like 40k of the996 stuff.

I came across a spawn of 997 conductivity copper a while agoand made some 14.91 crafting tools.
The bigger question you should ask yourself is whether or not a .09 rating increase will really make all that much difference in the grand scheme of things?

Hmm maybe its somethign that increments by 0.03 for every point of conductivity.
Intersting well I see how it works now. It goes from -15 to 15 in 0.03 incrememts depending on what the conductivity of the resources you put.
So the Formula would be:
((Resource Conductivity * 0.03) - 15) = Tool rating
This is if you experiment all the way though.. not sure if it will always work this way exaclty.

At the moment it's impossible to get a 15.00 tool, even with perfect resources. A while ago they allowed you to make a perfect tool with perfect resources but it only lasted 1 day and I don't even know weather it was intentional or not but it was soon changed. Of course all those that made a perfect tool schematic were allowed to keep them so you will still see some around unfortunately it's put every other crafter at a disadvantage since they can no longer be made without the perfect schematic.
So untill the supply of 15.00 tools dissapears it's like crafting them with one hand tied behind your back, another smart move by the devs.

The best i ever made used 996 copper was 14.88's. I can't imagine the difference between a 14.5 and 14.9 is that much or anything at all. Its a matter of pride among us crafters and it would seem to be a buying point for our customers.
A lot of people look back on that 1 day crafting change as the holy grail. It wasn't at all. It just created some fluke equipment thats still in the system. The aformentioned 15 tools being a small part. Trying being an architect when there are 20-25 BER fusions that were created on that one day. It was a change that was released without first going through the Test Center and the devs learned from it.
So work under the system we have not the system that lasted a day. Ignore the items made that day and just work up to the best you can do now. No amount of complaining is going to bring it back.

You can make +15.00 with 1000CD copper. No special crafting rules necessary. Temporary Tuesday only made it possible to make +15.00 tools with copper of less than 1000CD.
(And yes, it does spawn occasionally. Starsider has seen it at least twice that I know of.)

Ibavo and Owoa (sp?)... love those 1000 CD spawns... hehe.
But just to confirm MC's post, +15.00 FR tools can stillbe made today using 1000 CD metal.

To be perfectly honest I cant say that Ive noticed any difference between my 14.97 tools and 14.70 tools. Really you have to do about a thousand combines to notice any differenct between a +5 tool and +14. Dunno how much difference it makes really, I use the best I can make in any case...just in case.

There is a difference, but it's very small.
IMHO, the influence of tool/station quality should be higher than it is now.

Just FYI,
I have crafted +15.00 tools... We had a spawn of 1000CD Copper (Demik), on Valcyn...
So this is do-able there at least...

I have a large supply of 1000 conductivity copper that I use for my crafting tools, and as a 11 point artisan I get 15.00 tools with experimentation to spare. It has nothing to do with Super Tuesday.
For perfect numbers, perfect resources are required. For something simple like crafting tools, 1 perfect number but for armor it would require 5 numbers to be 1000...never happen.
This is a prime example of why its so important to track down resources with the right numbers. Four points of rating is all that separates you from perfection...
I don't think it really matters in the big scheme though. I have seen no discernable difference between 15.00 tools and 14.80 tools...
