Thread: Manufacturing Error?!!?

I run an equipment factory and keep getting a "@system_msg:manf_error_7". This error stops the manufacturing process. I have plenty of power and maintenance. It has stopped at 690, 740, and 50 items made.. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks

Uther

It's a known bug and has been since launch. Basically, it comes down to bad programming (cause) and indifference (which is why we still have it). It's been reported here hundreds of times and I imagine just about every crafter in the game has submitted at least one bug report for it.

If it's any comfort: consider yourself lucky. I tried emptying my hoppers completely to reset them, so now my factories stop after filling 20% of the output hopper. Really funny, especially as you lose resources every time.

This has never happened to me... I wonder if it's a bugged factory, I have been using my equipment factory since January (never redeeded it) and I've never had this message (/knock on wood again).

Have you tried re-deeding the factory? Have you tried a new factory?

I've got the same thing happening on at least 7 different factories atm... I don't think it's the factory that's the problem... I think it's the code. But it might just be a feature to make me feel more immersed, I mean.. it's not been fixed for over a year, so it must be intentional, right?

I have at least six factories with this problem right now.

I suppose I should pass on the suggestion that an informed CSR made yesterday:

Make sure you have enough power in your factories.

It really was almost funny. I've had these factories for 10 months. I use them every day. I think I would have worked that one out by now?

At least he didn't tell me to update my drivers, delete my char and start over or format my c-drive.

Not only does my char look like a mushroom... she also gets treated like one.

Hehe... I've been told to update my drivers before... I politely informed the CSR that my drivers were downloaded the day before he made this suggestion. To which he replied: "You may need to update your drivers." I then replied that no, my drivers were not out of date that they were the most recent drivers possible and that they had been downloaded less than 24 hours before he made his initial suggestion. His reply: "You may need to update your drivers." Needless to say I solved my own problem. It wasn't my drivers.

I've never been asked to format my C drive. However, should that ever come up, I'm one step ahead of them again! I can politely inform the CSR that I don't have a C drive, so I can't format something I don't have! My primary disk drive is named G.

As to the factory problem, I've experienced it as well. In my case I was trying to make a run of 500 seeker droids. Unfortunately, seeker droids have a factory crate size of only 5. I think it was after about 65 crates had been generated that I started to get a manufacturing error message every time I tried to restart my factory. In my case, emptying out the output hopper fixed the problem. I think this is a case of bad coding... the output hoppers say that they hold 100 units, but I think they actually hold less than that.

Its a rare bug that comes up from tiem to time,, ive had it happen at random times, and it seams to happen when my factories are maxed out in input and output.. well over 90% in both.. though ive had this happen in empty outputs, and half empty inputs,.. to me its totally random,, just hit restart,, but it cant hurt to take a few things outta the output.. /shrug havent had it happen in 4 months,, my factories have been droped since last august, soo thast what? 14 months?

I've not had this problem, and I've filled output hoppers to the max before.

I have to wonder if this has anything to do with the boundary problems. Early on, structures placed on server boundaries did some really weird stuff. I thought they had fixed it.

Have any of you been placing factories in the same locations for all this time? If you can, try moving them a couple hundred meters from their current locale.

This has been going on since the beginning of the game, but daily downtime always reset everything so it was never too noticeable or annoying.

However now with no daily start ups, a lot are having problems, redeeding every other day isnt a solution, its a pain.

We need everyone to post on the daily bug threads as well as the coresspondants to push this issue. At this point I am willing to take daily shut downs again or at least every other day

Deliberately bumping this as another day with no down-time means that factories are pretty much screwed again.

Maybe we should have a sweepstake:

How long do YOU think it will be until they bother to fix this bug? Winner gets um... a fixed factory?
