Thread: Why does getting Survey 4 take as long as mastering an elite prof?

Think I was feeling a bit under the wheather the last few days after taking a short break from the Jedi grind... I was wanting the satisfaction of being able to have "fun" and relaxing a bit on crafting... I should get an advanced droid with the crafting station installed so I can craft while surveying for the day...

Even I get a little impatient at times =)

So let me get this straigt. Youve got the single-minded determination to become a Jedi but not the patience to simply sit and sample for a couple play sessions?

You can craft while you sample. Now, I see from your sigi that your already a WS so probably dont have any craft grinding left to do. So my guess is that you want to use your extra toon to go ahead and set yourself up harvestors so that you can sell resources.

Most people doing the survey part of artisan are also crafting at the same time meaning that your doing something the entire timethey are sampling. In your case it seems that your not doing that, so your focusing too much on sampling and its results...meaning that time will seem to pass slowly.

In your case its probably better to just get a survey macro and a couple movies, let your toon survey and sample while you watch TV. No way around it the survey tree takes a bit of time.

Like I said this isnt a problem for the vast majority of us as we crafted at the same time. Nothing needs to be adressed by the devs in this respect.

if you need so much time, your doing something wrong

Get a high concentration resource (95% +) and use Stims and Brandy (or get a Buff).

Last time i mastered Artisan (from Novice to Master!) is was done at one weekend (incl. crafting ...).

Its like camping in Scout and Ranger you know the person wearing the title earned it. I dont think its an outrage at all. Mastering a profession should mean something and right now it doesnt. But survey and frontieering in Ranger are the two most painful to do it. Well outside of the change to make sure no one goes into ID anymore

Keep it the way it is

If it is taking you 20 hours, something is seriously wrong, lol. Make a macro if you are bored.

The problem isnt that artisan takes a few days to master casually, its the fact that we can master elite profs in 2-3 days. Thats so wrong its beyond words.

In all seriousness!! Why does it take me litterally days in hopes to finish up survey 3 and 4 ?? I am surveying on 82+ dense fields and am lucky to hit 1 out of 5 attempts!! This is an outrage and needs to be addressed... come on devs... you can do better than this! I know they wanted to slow things down a bit, but holy heck! Why are we being punished on this scale just to get Master Artisan?? I dont think this is fun to spend 20+ hours in hopes to get done with survey 3 then spends days in hopes to finish survey 4!! An elite combat prof can be completed in 2-3 days!!

Get a better macro and a higher % location, I did survey 1-4 in about 10 hours game time

I agree with your sentiment. However, I do believe that the CU will go a long way towards adressing this. As far as combat profs go, the only reason that you can master them so quickly is the generally unbalanced combat system. The state of secondary stat Buffs and high % kinitic Armor protections means that no strategy at all is necessary to complete a mission. Simply agro everythng and stand there spamming specials.

The CU should adress this, and I believe it will.

Asfar as mastering crafting professions go...as much as I hate to say it, its the recursive macros that speed that up.Still, mastering any crafting at all in theany of the games Ive played has always been an exercise in repetition. I have no idea how to slow down a craft mastery other than making macros not work. However, without a complete revamp to the crafting process this course of action would be a Very Bad Thing. There was mention of a streamlining of the process though, so I guess we will have to just wait and see.
