Hi, can someone please explain to me what experimenting with survey devices actually does

you cant experiment with them. theyre used to scan for mineral deposites. the more experience you gain the wider a ranger you can set your scanner to. when scanning you want to track down the highest percentage you can and put a harvestor on the spot as close as you can to the highest % amount.
to level up youll want to keep sampling minerals for XP.

I assume you are referring tothecreation ofthe survey tools. Experimenting on them does nothing presently. I usually use low quality "grinding" resources to make them and save the good stuff for crafting tools.

yeah I was talking about the creation of survey tools. I just don't understand why we can even experiment on them... usually there's an informative popup when you hover over each experimental line, but not on the survey tools. Seems kinda pointless to me..

Skill tapes.
Humans have an artisan skill bonus which gives +115 experimentation at master. When I add the maximum bonus of+25 in skill tapes, my total experimentation jumps to +140 which equals 14 experimentation points.

There WAS a reason to make better survey tools, before the 30k ulitmate survey tool got given. Back when some folks used survey droids, it made the time involved waiting for the results less, if the tool was better. As far as I know, thats the only reason to make 'good' survey tools.

wow didn't know that you got 14 points like that just assumed it capped at 12pt's
