I remember seeing someone post a trick to do this some time ago, but I forget the trick...

Something about clicking one option but not releasing the mouse button?

Thanks to anyone who knows...

You just click on 'option' without clicking on any of the menu choices beneath it. This really frustrated me one night trying to explain to a friend who just didn't understand. Ignore the menu that opens up beneath the word 'options', and just click on 'options' itself.
