Hello,

I´m starting seting up a few harvesters, right now I have 3 medium harvesters.

Fact is I need a guide to know what kind of minerals should I be looking for, I mean wich minerals are needed for what...

Let´s pretend I´m in Tattoine, I use my mineral survey device to look for a good vein, and I see a list of minerals I can survey/sample. If I go to Dathomir for example is the list the same? or each planet has it´s own classes and stuff?

please if anyone help would be great I´m totally lost !!! heeheh

It really depends on what you want to supply.

Do you want to just supply "resources" or do you want to try to supply resources for Advanced Components ?

Each crafting class can use different minerals (using Minerals as example, this could be gas/organics/chemicals) to make advanced components. Most higher level craftsmen prefer to use only advanced components. As a doctor I will ONLY make medicines with fully advanced components.

For example : if you want to supply Weaponsmiths, you may want to look for things they need for Advanced components like Duralloy Steel, Polonium Iron, or Irolunn Reactive Gas. They have a long list of advanced componenta that they need. Doctors need things like Tattooine Fiberplast and Dantooine Berries and Talus Water (not as big a list as Weaponsmiths but still 10 items if I remember right).

If you want to make more than a few credits per unit I would suggest finding out what advanced components you need and mining those. If you get resources with the right stats you can sell them for much more than the 3cr/unit that seems to be the going rate for 'normal' resources. On my server people will pay mroe than 12cr/unitfor Dolovite Iron right now because it hasn't been there in overa month. I got lucky and mined 40k of it5 or 6weeks ago.

Look and see what your crafters need most and will pay the best for, then go for it.

Also, each planet will have it's own set of resources. Say you find Duralloy Steel named 'Boogerium' on Tattooine. Each plane that has Boogerium will have the SAME stats on the Boogerium. But each planet can have different things.

You may find Boogerium Duralloy Steel on Tattooine but not find it on Talus. If Talus HAS Boogerium it will be the same stats as the one on Tattooine.

Some things are planet specific, like Corellian Decidious Wood, or Tattooine Fiberplast, but things like Minerals and gas are usually more generic.

Hope that helps some.

Here is a partiallist of what doctors need for advanced components : Tattooine Fiberplast, Lok Wild Wheat, Talus Water, Dantooine Berries, Class 4 Liquid Petrolium, Dolovite Iron.

You can also make good money just mining high concentrations of Low Grade Ore for sale to architects. I am finding out that they need a boatload to make things. You won't make alot on it but you can make a good profit.

I'd say one of you best bets would be to search for a certain type ofcrafter proffession in-game. Find a friendly one that'll tell you what resources they're looking for. Its pretty hard to explain to someone if a certain resource is valuable or not, because one crafter may love it, and another have no use for it. All I can give is some examples.

Say you want to supply architects. Generally, the stats of resources won't effect what they build.. they need quanity over quality basicly. Biggest thing an architect needs is low-grade ore. Even better would be carbonate ore, which is used in the generator turbines that power just about all the larger structures. Bad thing is ore never seems to appear in veins over 60% or so. Second on the list would be steel.. then aluminum.

Say you want to supply weaponsmiths. Any metal with high conductivity (900+) and high overall quality will be good. In general this will be a copper of some sort, which can appear in high % veins also. Also handy is iron and steel with those qualities (they usually dont have high conductivity tho). Melee weaponsmiths like steel with high shock resistance and unit toughness.

This is from my own experiences as a master architect and struggling weaponsmith.

As for surveying, planets will have different resources available at any time. Sometimes they will have the exact same, sometimes totally different. And if you're new to surveying you need to know about resource shifts. This is where resources will dissapear and new ones pop up. In general a resource will be aroundabout a week before dissapearing. Not all the resources you see on the list will change at a time. It seems each resource has its own timer as to how long it will last. Two steels may appear at the same time, one available for 5 days, but the other last 8 days.

Hope I helped some

For me, the key to running a successful high-volume, high-profit mining business is all in networking with other players.

When I was first starting, I had all 10 lots dedicated to personal harvesters. I was harvesting 4 or 5 different types of resources, in addition to high-PE radioactives for power. I was working exclusively on Tatooine, and over half my sales were lower-quality "grinding" materials at 2 cpu. When I was fortunate enough to find a really good resource, I would jump the price to 3 cpu. No problem at all selling at those prices, and I made very good profits. Usually averaging 30K net credits/day, averaged over a typical week.

Eventually, I started getting emails from people who were seeing my resources on the Bazaar. Not many, at first. In my case, I wound up hooked up with a Combat Medic who was always short of high-quality organics. He took all my personals would produce, and eventually I made enough to move up to medium flora farms (AFF's).

At this time, to make things easier for both of us, I set a small house outside Bestine and put up a bulky vendor. This reduced my available harvester lots to 8. Right about then, I started getting a few referrals from my main customer's guildies and friends. By that time, I had pretty much supplied the needs of my CM customer, so I had a pretty good stockpile of high-quality organics. I started supplying a couple more people. I think they are pretty much "dabblers", since they don't take huge quantities. Still, every bit helps.

At this point, on my 8 lots, I have 5 medium and 3 large harvesters. I am only harvesting high-quality organics, decent quality Tat fiberplast, and some 800 PE radioactives for power.

I play on Kauri, and I've found this a difficult server to "network" on. Mainly because there are so many players and PA's that are French-speaking only. My cash flow is disappointing at the moment, although I'm making enough to fund my structures.

I made a deal with my CM client which was helpful to both of us. He loaned me 250K credits to buy my two heavy flora farms. I set them on Lok on some really excellent rice. I paid him back with product. In two days, I had paid off the debt, and the heavy farms were mine. However, I had also totally filled his immediate and future needs for high PE and OQ organics. So...I'm putting this "super-rice" in inventory at the rate of about 28K a day. Basically, I'm speculating on high-quality organics. And I'm doing the same thing with the good-quality Tatooine Fiberplast I'm harvesting. I have no contract for it, but it is a specific requirement for several medical schematics. Eventually, Tat Fiberplast will only be available for harvesting in low quality type/s. At that time, I hope to be able to make a good profit on my stockpile.

For operating capital, I'm selling a few K of the Fiberplast on Corellia. Doesn't seem to be any problem selling it.

Anyway, sorry for the long, rambling post. Hopefully there is something in here that will be helpful in your goal to become a successful resource harvester/seller (or, as I call it: a Miner/Farmer).

Well I was going to post about the same information as Degasai, but he beet me too it. his post is the main business model for most of us "miners" that operate as independents and not in PA's or Kettemoor's BBB. All thoughI have not ever operated a vendor of my ownI do run a 10 lot medium operation. The main keys to making a good stead profit is repeat customers hands down.

Now when I startedI didnt know what to mine soI tried to get every thing at once and sell it on the bazaar. That turned out to not be the best idea, butI kept track of who bought from me. Then if they bought more than once or more than one sale off the bazaarI would e-mail them and thank them. Granted a lot of ppl never responed but those that did became my main customer base. Think of it as a hot sale's lead and you cant go wrong. As the previos poster's stated get to know the crafter's most would prefer not to do their own miningas it takes time and lots. Be fair in your pricing too, if u dont know look at the bazaar see whats selling at what price and you will get a good idea on how to price yours.

Now that being said dont gouge! dont be affraid to take a loss at times with new customer's. I did one nite it was late and i had been out parting earlier sent too low a price out in my e-mail, now that customer buy's the most and has set me up with a few other's.

Anyway hope this helps ya, have a good one.
