Thread: The Thing About Surveying is...
For example, I survey some Hoogie Steel OQ 956 DR 875 MA 921 in Mos Entha on Tatioone then I take a shuttle port to Mos Eisley and survey for the same resource will it be the same OQ 956 DR 875 MA 921 or will it be different?
1. Yes it will, the advangtage of trying out different locations is for better concentrations, enabling more resources to be mined in a given timespan for higher percentages.
2. All of them work. Though you can only shift small quantities on the bazaar, due to the 6k cap. Yelling you have certain resources for sale while you wait on a shuttle can yield results and its something to do while you wait. Vendors are ok if you can get people to visit. I find them more useful for when I've negotiated a deal, so you can leave the resources on there for the customer to pick up at their leisure, as this negates the need for you both to be on at the same time.
3. The resource types don't change but when they spawn does. So for example Dolovite Iron might not spawn on any planet for a while. On a new spawn the statistics will differ from previous spawns.
4.Work out how much you spend to mine a given resource, from start to when you redeed (if thats before the resource depletes). Factor in the redeed cost, and add in the cost of the total power used, include any other sundries as a result of mining such as travel expenses. Once you know your expediture you can divide it by the total number of units mined to work out the cost per unit.
5. When you set your harvester down you can see a KG/H rating given depending on the concentration and the BER of your harvester. This I've read is the amount of units per minute.
1. It will be the same all over the planet. Some of the same class items such as metals that appear on other planets will have a different name and stats.
2. Resources sell well on the bazaar, by word of mouth, to/from friends, on the Trade Forums...you have to find your outlet and niche.
3.All resources 'shift'. That is, they appear for a time (anywhere from 3 days to generally a week and sometimes 2 weeks +) and then disappear fromthe planet
4. Your cost, and many people have different opinions on this, is:
- the value of your time;
- the cost to run or buy a power generator;
- the cost to run and power your harvesters;
- and other overhead such as your house/shop maint., vendor maint., bazaar fees, shuttle fees (if you deliver), etc.
5. Resources per minute is based on your harvester BER (base extraction rate) and the percentage concentration of the resource you are harvesting. This is displayed in your harvester window (operate machinery). It'd be the BER * % Concentration = production / min. Note, I believe harvesters experimented on have unseen decimals in the BER that are rounded for display and possibly the concentration as well- I've had 2 'identical' BER harvesters sitting on the same % concentration and pulling different amounts (and more than the difference it took me in time to turn them both on or empty them).
Hope that helps!

Surveying to me is fun not the best aspect of the game but unique. The thing about survey is I don’t understand it enough for it to be profitable so I was hoping for a few tips and answers.
1. When surveying on a planet for a particular resource will the resource always be the same wherever I go on that planet?
For example, I survey some Hoogie Steel OQ 956 DR 875 MA 921 in Mos Entha on Tatioone then I take a shuttle port to Mos Eisley and survey for the same resource will it be the same OQ 956 DR 875 MA 921 or will it be different?
2. What is the best way to sell a resource bazaar, word of mouth, a friend who is a merchant?
3. Are there any unchanging resources?
4. How do I calculate the cost of my resource?
5. How do I figure out how many resources per a minute my harvester gets?
Please don’t send me to SWGcraft.com cause they’re calculator doesn’t tell me the mathematical process nor does it properly answer these questions. Thanks ahead of time for your help and thanks you Sony for SWG.
Hello,
I am quite new but I will try to answer all your questions the best I can.
1- Yes, but the concentration differs.
2- It depends. When you have an house with a high traffic or have a friend who is a succesful merchant, selling via a vendor or to your friendmight bemore effective than on the bazaar.
3- To my knowledge all resources have unchanging properties, but to the best I know there is no resource where the spawning place is permanent.
4- The cost is very subjective to set. The price to sell depends on demand and supply. Rare resources with attributes above 900 can be sold at a much higher price than resources used for grinding which are normally sold at 2.5 till 3 cpu. Experiment with it so you can "feel" the price.
5- There is a formula, but personally Ionly use the concentration on my device as my guide.
Good luck,
Galaxyburst
Very helpful thanks you but it brings up new questions.
A.So Kg/h is units per hour?
B. Extractors: What types are there (Small, Large, Miniral, Chemical)and what is the max BER for each type?
C. How many lots does each type take?
D. It'd be the BER * % Concentration = production / min. So BER 10 at 70% would be 10 * .7 = 7 ?
Thanks again.

Actually Kg/h is units per minute in reality.
B. Extractors: What types are there (Small, Large, Miniral, Chemical)and what is the max BER for each type?
Mineral, Chemical, Water, Gas, flora all come in personal (Max 4 BER), medium (Max. 10 BER), Large (Max. 13 or 14 BER not 100% positive)
Then for power you have Wind, Solar, and Fusion (Radioactive) Fusion max BER is also 13 or 14. Not sure on the others.
C. How many lots does each type take?
1 lot each
D. It'd be the BER * % Concentration = production / min. So BER 10 at 70% would be 10 * .7 = 7 ?
That's it. So 7 per minute should get a touch over 10K units per day.
Thanks again.
