Thread: Crafting Missions: Missing NPCs?

I'm newish to crafting, and have recently started an artisan character on a new server. I decided to try earning my startup funds by doing crafting missions, but I've noticed that the final destination NPCs (and less frequently, the first destination NPCs) will quite often not be there (about 1/3rd of the time). At first I thought it might just be lag, so I waited around for fifteen minutes. That worked once, but it doesn't seem to be the root of the problem.

I then thought that perhaps I had some sort of video driver issue that was just preventing me from seeing the NPC, but I wasn't even able to target the area where the NPC should be. I did download the lastest drivers just in case, but that had no effect either. My final thought was that perhaps the NPCs were being chased off or killed in the Imperial/Rebel skirmish; I did once see my target NPC come running from somewhere off in the distance until he arrived at the waypoint.

Anyway, I did search the forums to see if this issuehad been mentioned, but I didn't find anything on it. I'm curious to know if anyone else has experienced this.

For the sake of reference, I've only been doing the missions between my starting city (Moenia, Naboo) and Deeja Peak. I'll try some different cities to see if the problem occurs elsewhere.

Thanks much.

There is possible, though unlikely, that you suffered from a model loss, but usually they affect all models. If it is, logging out and logging in should solve the problem.

NPCs will move around from time to time. If there's fighting nearby, I have seen mission NPCs run away. You can talk to the NPCs in the area and might get lucky and find your NPC. Otherwise, wait a couple minutes and your NPC should walk into the waypoint.

Thecrafting mission NPCs in Deeja Peak are definitely messed up. I've had the same problem there, with about the same frequency. I've tried nearby NPCs, waiting up to 30 minutes, even logging out all to no avail. It was so frustrating I decided to do the crafting missions from Mos Eisley to Anchorhead instead. (They pay about the same as Moenia-Deeja Peak, however you won't get return missions from Anchorhead. I do survey missions for the return trip; before I leave Mos Eisley I check for a minimum 70% concentration of Metal or Gas.)

I had this happen in Deeja Peak quite a few times over the weekend. Friday night I had one set of missions (originated in Moenia too, by the way) that was particularly bad. Only one of the final destination NPCs was at the waypoint in Deeja Peak, and it took 3 trips to the terminal (6 missions) to get 2 that actually had someone at the waypoint for me to meet.

I did quite a few missions yesterday and only had one of them end up bugged like that. I've yet to have one bugged on the return to Moenia.

I had this happen a few times during the Reb Theme Park quests (so it's not just crafting missions). I had to go back to the NPC that gave me the quest and except for one time, the NPCs were at the waypoints the on the second try.

Interesting. I don't know if this is related, but in wandering around to pick up a few Location badges I found that I couldn't get the "Deeja Peak Falls" badge to activate.

Other Locationbadges also don't activate precisely on the the waypoint, but ten minutes of wandering around all over Deeja Peak (and in and out of the waterfall itself) didn't activate the badge.

Now I wonder if it was a timing problem. Hmmm....

I've run into this on two servers (AHAZI and Flurry) and on Naboo and Rori. It seems that the NPCs are delayed for the most part, though I've been skunked totally a few times. I'd have to say my experiences are a lot less than 1 in 3 , probably 1 in 10 or 15. In several cases the NPC has shown up eventually. (I go outside the city and hunt or survey to waste time, then retuen and they are usually there, though not always). In at least one of the times there was a complete no show, I was delivering an "illeagal" part and the area was crawling with storm troopers, I chalked it up to the presence of so many Imperial forces. Or maybe it's just a glitch.... ;-)

I had the same problem with mission NPCs not appearing at the waypoints, but in Mos Entha, on Tatooine. I also had a problem getting the badge for the Sarlacc Pit (I ran over to it, stood there, got poisoned a little, ran around in a circle, trying not to get too close... got poisoned some more... then ran back to my vehicle and gave up before i died.)

Seems like a general waypoint to event trigger problem. IE, a waypoint that is supposed to trigger an event (NPC, Addition of a Badge, etc) fails to trigger that event. Anyone submitted any /bugs on this?

Yep /bug'd it each of the 3 times it happened.
