Hello

I have been checking the FAQs, but never really saw an answer to my question (and it appears the search function is being selfish)

HOW do you mine in space? I saw things about being "set up" for space mining, but I don't know what that means. I have the JTL expansion, but I have no idea how to go about doing this.

If someone could explain to me what I need and the process of mining in space, it'd be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

There's a quest on Kashyyyk that will get you started. Go to the tree, second level, and take a right if memory serves me. Talk to the right hand wookieee. As you progress through the quest, you'll get a starter mining laser and tractor beam (not needed)to make it a little easier pulling in the astroid fragments.

Below is a link to an excellent guide to space mining from the Shipwright forums. Sorry, but I lack the skill box to make a clicky.

you will also need to be at least a tier 2 pilot to accomplish the missions and survive while mining asteroids.

And you need the ROTW expansion for space mining, cause I only read that you have JtL.

You could always just visit a SW and buy a mining laser and cargo hold.

I've been around since launch but I've just recently given JTL the attention it deserves (just made master pilot). My questions are as follows:

1) What are the minerals that are mined used for? weapons? armor? I'm not quite sure.

2) I'm doing the space mining quest now and I'm up to the part where I have to escort a convoy of Y-8 mining vessels in Kashyyyk space. I launch, but I get no WP. Is that by design or is this quest bugged?

3) I'm seeing some high end components but the state that they're for (POB) vehicles only. Dumb question, but what is a POB vehicle?

ANy help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Used in POB components - decorations (side strakes for example) - texture kits and vehicle repair kits.

Bugged, but fix is coming in publish 24 (no news on when it will go live, but it isn't ready yet).

POB refers to Portalized OBject. In SWG this is mainly housing and buildings you walk inside. In JTL it refers to player ships you walk around in, currently the Yacht (can't upgrade that one) and the master level ships YT-1300, Nova, Decimator and Y-8.

ANy help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Also see my sig link for a guide to mining that may help.
