Just what do people look for in powerups? What mods, what are good numbers, and what about pricing/number-per-crate? Thanks in advance!

I've been selling powerups since July of 2003 - so I'll be able to answer some of your questions. Keep in mind, however, that all of these may vary from server to server.

What are good numbers?

+31% to 33% on the primary stat

+15% to 16% on the secondary stat

To get these high stats you will need both the mineral and chemical to have Overall Quality (OQ) above 900, preferably in the mid to upper 900's.

There are some triple and quadruple stat powerups achievable, however that 3rd and/or 4th stat comes at the expense of a lower secondary stat. I've not found that the triples sell as good as a high demand double.

You have to break this down into melee and ranged, as there is a difference in what can be made between them.

Also, there will be a difference in what a novice prefers over a master. At novice levels, they may be interested in speed mods to increase the rate of fire (or speed of attack, for melee). Once reaching Master, the speedskill modifieris already maxed out usually, so speed modifier is useless to them.

For ranged power ups, I've found the dual damage muzzles (+33% Max Damage / +16% Min Damage) to be my all time best sellers.

I also do well with selling ones for riflemen that are mind reduction and damage modifiers.

For melee powerups, anything with mind reduction also seems to sell very well.

What about pricing/number per crate?

They are factory produced in crates of 10. The price can vary widely, on three different servers I have seen them between 1000 (on the bazaar) to 4000+ credits per crate.

I've done very well holding my cost at 1800 per crate. When I first started building my business, I offered a 10% discount on purchase of 4 or more crates. I'd just tip back to the customer the 10% rebate.

I sell singles at 200 each to offer another discount for purchasing in crates.

Search the archives for a message about all the mods, there are only certain combinations available and differerent types (muzzle, scope, grip, etc) will have different mods available.
