I keep trying to find good resources and I allways seem to find one with one or two things I like but for the most part not what I'd want to use. There's tons of crappy minerals but rarely one that fits my needs. I was thinking why couldn't we have a station for mixing resources to get what we want. It woudln't give too much an advantage if the ratio of minerals going into and coming out of the metalurgy/chemistry station were a 1+1=1 kinda mix. where if you mix 1 unit fiberplast and one unit steel you get one unit of plasteel for a good solid material for armour with high mallibility rating and superb unit toughness/shock resistance.

A process for mixing things and getting the best qualities of the things your mixing would be something just about every player who makes things would want to invest in if they take pride in their work. Not only that but things could get interesting with chemistry station. I was thinking just to make it more realistic have the chemistry station blow up possibly harming or killing the player using it in the event of a critical error. Like a failed attempt at mixing radioactives with high energy rating with a reactive gas. If you make it work with a process simmilar to a smugglers slicing you could make 'formulas' (like schematics) for the station to use with two or more units to mix, and then plug it all into the metalurgy/chemistry station and let it go to work untill it mixes then just pull it out like any factory or harvestor. Well.... that's just my idea.... what do you think?

Trust not people to tell the truth, they may lie or have been lied too. Trust instead your ability to extract the truth from available information and logic.

This idea has been presented frequently. I personally love the idea. But here's why it's never gonna happen:

Say you make it so that only1 specific resources can be "refined" by itself. For this example I will makeup Bork Desh Copper. And lets say that you can only"refine" 1 stat (lets say OQ) for an improvement and that it can only go up 1 increment (lets say +100) so it's essentially pass or fail. You have now added 1 new resource to the database, and effectively doubled the database space for just Bork Desh Copper. And here's what happens as you include other stats possible:

2 stats = 3x database entries

3 stats =7x

4 stats = 14x

5 stats = 30x

6 stats = 47x

and so-on.

And this is just for Bork Desh Copper.

Now, take into account the other types of Desh Copper out there.... then Copper in general. Then all Metals..... then all Minerals......

then Chemicals, Gasses, etc....

And this doesn't even brush on combining one resources with a different one. This is simply refining one resource with itself. The database would require several pieces of new hardware simply to accomidate this. Unfortunately, as cool an idea as this is, I don't see SOE spending that much cash on new server parts and programmer wages just for something that isn't "necessary".

But for what it's worth, I like the idea alot.
