Today I decided to whip up some test show packages to see how they went off, and how useful/entertaining they would be at player hosted events.

I load one up to 20.. and go to launch it outside my house in the wilds near Theed. Nothing... zilch.. nada.. you get the point

Hrm.. bugged? I run into Theed and try to launch it.. Yay it fires off. Hrm.. so they can only be used in cities? So I whip up another one and head to a player city.. and.. well.. Nothing.. zilch.. nada...

Are the packages designed only purely to be used in NPC cities and not anyplace else? They were a great idea to combine fireworks to set off displays.. but if the use is limited to NPC cities it makes Player City celebrations to be.. very.. well.. cumbersome to say the least. Anyone have any ideas on this?

I was able to fire off one in Moenia as well to test out my theory of "only in NPC cities".

Hmmm... It's always worked for me in players cities... Maybe you were standing on a submurged part of your house when you tried to launch in? You also sometimes have to try and launch it multiple times, I have observed...

I know for a fact that you can launch them in player cities though. It may have been just a random bug for you, or something like that.

I actually ran far from the area of my house as well to try to launch it and clicked launch multiple times and it didn't work. I was even on a relatively flat piece of land when I did it.

Has anyone else tried the Packages since the last patch?

Just tried it again And still couldn't get it to launch from a grassy area near my home.

However.. when tried on the front step of my house.. it went off fine. So it must have something to do with needing a perfectly flat surface area to launch from? Which seems kinda odd.. but.. oh well

There used to be a few problems with the show package, and it is unclear if they are fixed.

1. Loading 20 fireworks may cause the show package not to work. Don't load more than 19.

2. You need to launch a firework immediately before you launch the show package.

3. The launch command on the show package doesn't always work. Just open your inventory and double click it.

It's always been my experience that the - only - place I've ever been able to launch packages off from is the roof of PA halls. I've tried setting them off in NPC cities, player cities, on the ground, from the roof balconies of medium and large houses, and no luck anywhere. I've tried varying the number of fireworks loaded into the packages. Again, no luck, except for the rooftop of PA halls. I've no earthly clue why this is, but just thought I'd share my experience.

My experience is that sometimes they work... sometimes they don't. I know that's a really vague statement, but it's the best explanation I can come up with.

I've tried the fireworks packages in player cities, non-player cities, on the roofs of PAs, kneeling, after having set off a regular firework, with 19 charges, with 20 charges... I could go onbut I think you get the idea. In every situation that I've tried using the fireworks packages I've had immediate successes, complete failures, and situations where it wouldn't work the first 20 times I tried but five minutes later it worked on the first shot.

As for explanations, I have but one... sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.

Best advice: be patient if it doesn't work the first few times you try,wait a few minutes and try again. And always be ready ready to run back about 50m so that you can see your fireworks package when it does finally work.

I watched a great show pakacge just last night about a thousand meters outside of Mos Eisley. Worked fine there.

here is a tip for you,, dont use the show packages,, hand launch um. loading those shows is such a pain in the ass anyway. this is what you do.. clear out some inventory room. take out 24 or 48 fireworks and hot key um.. you would need 2 sets for the latter. you can do huge shows by doing this and you will get tons of aplause. I have done 15-20 min long shows. you can get into groves and do much more than the basic, double launching, 3 triples ect even a grande finally Take it one step further higher some musicans and add toons to your shows, it can be lots of fun at parties : )

I sell what i call show packages,, 10 crates of 5 each in a back pack for 8k thats 3500 fireworks and you even get a free back pack !Makes a great show. which reminds me,, i need to run some more and put together some firework packages /grin
