Let me start off by saying I love artisan. I've been a Master for over a year now, and find it to be one of the most useful professions in the crafting game.
But I am perturbed by one thing. In a game dominated by melee, how is it damn near impossible to create an "effective" melee weapon power-up. "Effective" to me, meaning that I can get Max Damage, Min Damage, or Speed as the predominant stat. I feel as though I am wasting near-perfect (1000OQ chem, 997OQ metal) in a vain attempt to craft a powerup that 99% of the time is unsellable. No one I know (you may know differently) wants to buy a powerup where Range Mods, or Ham Cost Mods are the primary stat.
To a lesser extent my gripe is with the entire power-up system to begin with and I'll be completely honest with you when I say I expected it to be at the top of the "top 5" list when I came into this forum tonight. Seeing that its not I now have little hope for my plight.
My question then is, do you know of any way to make getting effective melee weapon power-ups easier? Some trick that I haven't been able to find out in my time as a Master Artisan. I'm becoming desperate, as I sit for hours sometimes hoping to get something effective. Where I've had enough success with ranged to not warrant a rant, I have had near 0 luck with the melee powerups. My second question: Is it even *POSSIBLE* to get melee powerups with primary stats of Max Damage, Min Damage, or Speed?
Thank you.

For the first time as an artisan (been one since launch) i was able to get a min/max on both my ranged and melee damage powerups. For the longest time i thought people were lying when they said they made those or powerup with 4-5 bonuses (hit 4 several times now). I do not have the village bonuses and it was using a OQ1000 steel and OQ950 oil.
It took me about 30-40 tries to get the combos which is annoying and as i said in another post i retract my thinking this was a good thing. But it is possible. Now getting min/max/speed in the same one? If you did one of three would have such a low percentage as to not make a difference

Damage CANNOT be a primary stat on melee p-ups, nevertheless, I sell the ones this guy metioned just as well as any ranged powerup. Of course thrown powerups at this point in time are going faster than anything.

Ya,
Powerups in general need some serious over-haulin.
Melee and genade, especially, but ranged as well. I'd like the to seem them redone to be more deterministic.

I actually like the randomness of the powerups. Many people do not take time to create really, really good ones so I seem to sell the good combinations that I get for higher than norm. prices.

I have been selling powerups since launch and it's the one consistant vendor I have had in game since day 1. I even have some customers who have been with me since day 1.
It is a real hassle to make try after try of a powerup to get the combination I need. I have noticed, and maybe this is my imagination, but some mineral/chemical combinations seem to be more likely to combine into certain combinations. I have 4 minerals at 1000 OQ and 4 chemicals I use over 997 OQ. When used in various combinations I get say more max/min ranged powerups using mineral 1 combined with chemical 3, etc.... I noticed this after looking through over 100 powerup schematics I had made and stored.....certain combo's just always had the same mineral/chemical combo.
For Melee, HAM Cost Reduction/Maximum Damage/Attack Speed Increase are the ones I sell the most. Most like 33.16% Mind Cost Reduction/16.33% Maximum Damage Increase/8.4% Attack Speed Increase.

I agree and I even have suggested a better system for crafting powerups. Take a read. It has lots of good ideas.

+16% Max Damage can be very useful in grinding, for PvP I would think most people would only use a +30% loot powerup on their nicer weapon.
