Thread: detailed surveying...

I think it only stands to reason, that just as the Scout's Hunting ability grants them continually more detailed creature info as they gain in levels, so too the Artisan's Surveying ability should grant more and more specific resource info. As resource requirements get more specific and greater quality resources become vital, it only seems like a natural progression for the Artisan to be better able to identify them.

This would also open up new worlds for the Artisan as Surveyor for Hire. An Artisan with detailed info could be using it to gather his/her own resources, but also picking the sweet spots for others as is already done to a lesser degree.

Also, instead of making things too easy for the Artisan, I believe it would help to boost the economy and player interaction, as there would be more competition for quality resources and more competition and innovation between crafters. Mining for profit would also become a more lucrative business, encouraging more crossovers in professions and the use of a wider array of skills in many exising models.

You already can see all stats on a resources when you examine it. There really isn't that much room for innovation in the Artisan crafting profession, the crafting system is very straight forward.

I know that once you have a sample you can examine all of its attributes. What I'm suggesting is that at higher levels, this info be incorporated into the Survey Tool. Perhaps even just an "overall quality" rating under the tool's percentage map. It's a small thing, yes, but by the time you've reached the point of needing large quantities of increasingly diverse resources, in many cases using time limited buffs, it could streamline the search process for worthwhile resources.

It may also be that being relatively new to the game in general and crafting specifically, that there are still elements of the process I haven't picked up yet that make the above suggestion irrelevant.

Using swgcraft or some other resource for your server can save a ton of time.

i still dont know what you mean...

you survey the resource.. it gives you an exact number of what the stats are.. soo you can see that one is 990 OQ and the other is 500 you dont need any skills to know that the 990 is a higher OQ..

Or am i totally missing your point?

I think he means the survey interface tells you a rating which will tell you an average? of the resources stats. Which wouldn't help much on certain resources on which the stat caps are very low.
