Ok. I plan on harvesting for gas. I have my Veteran reward ready, a Heavy Gas Processor, and Gos pocket Surveying tool.
I go into the middle of no where and start to use my surveying tool. And the window with 2 boxes and sample and suvey bottons comes up, i press survey and it says " Please select a resource first", but there are no resources for me to choice from!
Can someone tell me what im doing wrong?

It is possible that there is currently no gas on the planet you're trying to survey on.
Your survey tool will only show things that are currently spawned on the planet you're on and it changes from planet to planet.
Check www.swgcraft.com to see what's currently in-spawn and where on your server.

Those gas processors may not be running at the moment.
If no gas shows up in your survey tool, there's none available on the planet.
What server are you on?
I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say Shadowfire based on your post history.
According to SWGCraft, there's currently only one kind of gas available there:
- Gas
- Known Reactive Gas
Propave, Unstable Organometallic Reactive Gas (Entered By Nilder / Verified by Rhazohn)
DR=611, OQ=858
» Marked as available on Endor 8 days ago by Nilder

There has been reports of a gas shortage on several planets. The only one that seems to be showing up is the "unstable organometric" one. This was added with JTL, doesn't have the stat caps of other gases, and only shows up on one planet at any given resource shift.
You may be seeing "static" gas harvesters. Player1 can gain access to more than 10 lots by having Player2 place a structure and putting Player1 on admin list. Harvesters are common choices. But that means Player2 can't pull up the harvester if it's not sitting on a good spot, which can lead to just this situation.
Personally, I think the additional resources added with JTL messed up the resource shift code. There's probably some "round robin" algorithm that wasn't updated with the new resource count.

From the sounds of things, they added the JTL resources and several types of iron, and took away from the "common" pool that things like gas and chemical use ... and iron, I suppose, but that's outweighed by the additions.
