I grinded artisan a couple months ago, and read the faq's then and had no trouble determining the draft schematic number. I started the grind again earlier today and put in the macro but I have been unable to determine the actual number for the wind power schematic. Has anyone figured out the new system? Is there a new system? Short of going in and inputting each number and seeing if that if my chosen schem., is there another way?

When they instituted datapad sorting it messed up the numbering system. With the last patch they put in an option that allows you to unsort your datapad and return it to its original format. Open your options sheet by hitting CTRL + O and uncheck the box that says something about sorting items within your datapad. After you've done that you'll probably have to relog for the changes to take effect, but once they do you should be able to locate schematic numbers in your datapad just as before.
Good luck!

It is under the interface tab:
"Automatically Sort Datapad Contents"

Actually,I wishI would've tried that first, he he, give anything for an edit button............anyways,I switched off sort datapad contents, logged and restarted galaxies and whenI looked at my datapad, yes the inventory had been rearranged but I counted from the top, left to right and still to no effect, so then I tried counting backwards from what item my number had brought up.......all to no avail. If someone has any more suggestions, pls let me know.

Change the view to the column mode, but don't sort it. Pick a number, say 100. Look at whichever one that gives you. If it's higher, then try 150, or lower try 50. Then change by 25. That should get you close enough to be able to count.

My problem is every time I log in or out, the schematic number changes too, although the order of items in the datapad does not change. I have tried rearranging by type, but still cannot figure out what system, if any, is being used. And the number changes each time I log, so I have to go through the trial and error every single time, regardless of if I learned a new crafting level. It was happening to me almost a year ago when I was mastering weaponsmith. Sometimes the number would change when I would travel to another planet! I guess it's a small thing, but can be frustrating. Just keep in mind when you are going to macro craft, set aside some time, so once you do find the right number, start plugging away!

The number changes based on whether you're near a public crafting station, private station, or no station. You should either always craft near a private crafting station, or get a droid with a crafting module.

There's a better way than /selectdraftschematic xx
Replace that line with:
/ui action defaultButton
Now manually make one of the desired items.
In fact, you don't even have to make it.
Just select the schematic and hit next then close the crafting window.
NOW start your macro.
You'll never have to hunt for that schematic number and edit your macro again.
Want to craft a different item?
Do the same thing you did above for the new item and you're all set.

That is terrific Elyssa, thank you so much. I never thought of that, but when you craft manually it always defaults to the last item you did. And when I said my numbers would change when I log in, it would often be in the same place, so crafting stations had nothing to do with it. I was crafting last night in a med center, nowhere near any crafting stations, and when I logged in this morning to start crafting again, the schematic number had changed. And it's not even consecutive! Whatever. With this new line in the macro I won't have to hunt for a schematic number again! 5 stars!

I just tried it with the /ui action defaultButton; command, and it didn't work... at first. The crafting window would open, but it would not select anything, then the macro would just continue to run. I typed it in manually into the chat window, hit enter and it worked. Then I figured there is about a 1-2 second pause after hitting a crafting tool before the window comes up, so I entered a line in my macro for /pause 1; then I put in /ui action defaultButton; and it works fine. So is my computer that slow if there is a delay in the crafting window coming up? Or is that normal?

Yes, you need a pause between the time your macro opens the crafting tool and you use the defaulButton command.
Since it isn't selecting the schematic directly, the crafting interface needs to get fully opened before it will work.
I use a pause of .5 and that works fine for me, but depending on how fast your client responds you may need to increase the delay time.
