Is it me or does any decent concentration of a resource (i only mine metals and ore so cant comment on other types) seem to end up either:

a) On a river bank so I cant place my darn heavy harvestor

b) In the riverso I cant place my darn heavy harvestor

c) In a player city........so Icant place my darn heavy harvestor

d) On uneven land........yep so i cant place my darn heavy harvestor

Only really mined on Coronetbut this seems to happen to me eveytime.

Am i just unlucky? Or is this a dev conspiracy?

Also was surveying for an ore today and couldnt find a concentration over 45% anywhere.

No it just feels that way at the start. What you want to do is sample in the areas of the map that arent all completly taken up. And remember that Corelia and Naboo are just plain full and there is no hope of planting harvesters there.

Look at Lok and the far corners of Tat and you should have better luck. Oh yeah and Ore typically doesnt get above 50 and rarely up to 60%

There is one type of ore called "Fermionic Siliclastic Ore" that shipwrights use.
Because of this it plays by a different set of rules than all the other varieties of ore:
- It will always spawn somewhere in the galaxy
- It only spawns on one planet at a time
- It typically stays in-shift longer than normal
- It doesn't have the same concentration cap as other ores.

Currently on Gorath it's been available on Dathomir for about 18 days.
It's too dangerous for me to mine it there but in past spawns on Endor and TatooineI've been able to locate concentrations as high as 92%.
If you need just any old ore (especially for grinding), this is some great stuff to get!

A good way to stay sane when finding places for your harvesters is to learn a bit about the geography of the worlds. Every one of them has regions that are flatter and more wide open.

On my server, one of the best areas on Naboo is the grasslands on the northern coast. Geography is static, so take your nose out of the Survey tool sometime, and explore. Learn where good regions are and remember them. Next time you need to return to that planet, go to the same general area, chances are you will be able to find a good concentration again.

This is also helpful for remembering where you left the harvesters
