Ok, when crafting if you get a critical failure your piece of equipment becomes a piece of garbage. Fine, makes sense.
What DOESN'T make sense to me, is whenever I have a critical failure on a piece of equipment, not only do I lose all the resources used to craft it, but I lose a large chunk of whatever I used as a main ingredient OUT OF MY INVENTORY.
So my question is, during a critical failure, is it SUPPOSED to destroy perfectly good metal in your inventory that isn't being applied to the process or is this a bug?

It makes prefect sense to me, if you make a steak, and put pepper and whatnot on it, then you burn the steak to the point that you can't eat it, then don't you lose all of the spices and whatnot you put on it?

I don't know if this happened exactly the same to me, but last night, I had mined close to 130 of Steel and then went to crafting items. I had a critical failure and logged off, lo and behold, I lost ALL of that steel that WASN'T applied to the piece that I was building.
I don't understand it.
I don't understand it.

You missed my point...
To continue your analogy, this is akin to if I burnt a spiced steak so bad I couldn't eat it, the rest of the cow becomes unusable as well...
