Basically how do you do it? Anywhere i go, the footprint is red....even in areas that look perfectly good for building...do i need to find a place where its windy or something?

I have successfully placed a wind generator. I found a spot that wasn't red. If everywhere you try is red, perhaps you are too close to a city?

I had one up yesterday. Had to trek 2400m from the city to find a good location that I could lay it.

Head West out of Nashal along the south side of the River. 1500m and you are there!

I have placed two, but depending on what planet your at and what altitude, depends on how much wind you get. Mine run at 15% because they are in a valley my mts. on naboo. If placed on a mt. they draw signifigantly more energy. Keep in mind though you dont need that much power to run a harvestor. Power only becomes a concern later in game, with factories and what not.

Both of my wind generators are next to the ocean and running at 62% efficiency. I could have gotten better efficiency probably but this particular spot is a very short run from the city. Just remember that if you can't find a good spot in one city then travel to another (always get missions when you travel, it offsets the cost of the ticket plus gives you more credits for operating your harvesters, you'll need it). My wind generators are actually about 10,000 meters away from my mineral and chemical harvesters, and I plan on placing a wood harvesternear a third city. I used to think it was a pain to travel to two or three different cities just to maintain harvesters but it is in fact well worth it unless you can find a spot somewhere that you can get decent energy and minerals/chemicals (maybe you can find one, I can't).

What do Wind Power Generators do? Do they give you a resource called Power? How does this work with the other harvesters? Do you have to chunk your resoure into the other harvester to make it work?

Maybe people do not realize this, but you can survey for wind power when looking for places to put these. I really has nothing to do with valley or mountain so muc as where the highest percentag is like any other resource. As for what to do with power, you empty your hopper and go to your harvestors and deposit power. If you look at the status, it will tell you how long (IRL time) it should run. Same goes wiht maintnance. By the way keep you maintnance current it is much cheaper if you do.

If you read with your eyes shut you are likely to find, that the place you were going is far far behind.

So you can survey/gather power like any other resource? I take you then insert power into the wind generator and get that going so you can run your harvester?

ok i found a good place....placed 2 actually. Basically, you need a very large space of COMPLETELY flat land. I'm talking table-top flat. i had to settle for 22% and 38% wind.
