Thread: Any tips for getting to specialzed profession
I just learned engineering four and need some advice on how to get enough gcxp to get novice weaponsmith (21000). I sell most of the stuff i make but the extra "use xp" i get is pretty miniscule (about 50 points per day or something). Everything i can make from my harvestors gives me about 40 xp so i would have to make over 500 of them. Bone armor gives slightly better xp but i have to keep buying hides and bones. Should I
1)Just keepgrinding bone armor?
2) Start learning domestic or even master artisan since there is good xp stuff in there (i currently know only domestic one and no buisness)?
3) Do something else i am missing?
It varies from profession to profession, I made scads of Furniture crafting Devices, I made harvesters to harvest steel and fiberplast, gathered about 6000 steel and about 3000 fiberplast and sat in one spot using 2 general crafting devices in tandem,
1) craft a Furniture crafting device,
2) Destroy a previously made Device
3)Using next General Crafting device, make another Furniture Crafting Device,
4) Destroy a previously made device
5) goto1
it works out pretty well, that in the time it takes after making a device, and destroying A device, the first device is at 16, then you begin crafting on the second device, the first completes. Took me a couple of hours to go from eng4 to beginning armorsmith or weaponsmith (Armorsmith takes less exp so it was faster).
There were several posts by people who do not favor grinding, if you agree with them, then bone armor is probably the way to go. I wopuld suggest becoming a scout and warrior of some kind, do destroy missions to harvest your own bone and hide, thus gaining exp in 3 classes at the same time.
hey,
i personally has been crafting muzzles at high speed... just churning them out with up to 4 crafting devices working at the same time. muzzles require little resources and have relatively high complexity (14 i believe), so they gain 40 gcxp for each one made. i destroy them afterwards. i dont know if this is the fastest, but it will get me there in a few hours.
I had read this on other boards and the best advice I can give is:
1) grind the muzzles and power ups, not many resources and you get decent xp for them.
2) divide what you need down to resonable terms.
I made it to novice architect this weekend using this theory...at 40xp/ muzzle you need 25 = 1000
my inventory always had at least 25 slots open at all times to do this and I would watch and monitor how many i have to do and how many time I have done it.
At 5K xp I had 28 so I had to fill my inventory 28 times and these numbers are a bit less daunting then 33K makes a little lite at the end of the tunnel.
but grinding and destroying seems to be the only way to get over the hump for these professions. Once youare over there you get back into specialized xp and I have been crafting casually and have gone up quite a bit before ihave built my first house.
hope this helps MTFBWY
