Thread: Resource Turnover INSANITY!

For those of you keeping score out there, resources on Bria have officially flipped for the third time in three days. I think this qualifies as insane. I had just built my first harvester and was out scouting for a spot to build my wind harvester when it happened. The new batch of stuff seems to be pretty good but still, seriously, this is a little out of control. I don't suppose anyone (*cough* Devs *cough*) would like to comment on this?

I've seen resources change countless times on Tattooine on the Bloodfin server. Maybe that has something to do with Bloodfin having so many problems?

Not all of them have turned over but a new one pops up every day and one is gone everyday, it seems.

I did find some very good aluminum that is still there, whew, mining that sucker for all it's worth. 8-)

Holocron has already commented on this, it's in the Resources thread he started, you can find it using the dev digest from the from the front page.

Yeah, it is pretty crazy.. The stuff I've been reading about bugged harvesters doesn't help much either. The only solution is... MANUAL LABOR! Stock up on Starshine Surprises and /sample as much as you can stand before the next cycle

Ah yes... Straight from Holocron's mouth (or fingers for those who don't get figures of speech ):

OK, clearly I didn't read enough posts on the issue. I will check into this oddball phenomenon of resources only lasting 24 hours.

That was yesterday at 10AM, maybe we'll see a fix this morning!

I play - more or less deliberately - in the smaller of two towns (Restuss) on the least-densely populated starter planet (Rori) on a medium-density server (Kettemoor).

I made the mistake of telling a few friends, who were struggling to raise the quality of their items, what the best isotope of metal was. They obviously told a few friends. Who told a few friends. Which was harmless - until the other day, when the only non-sucky metal on the planet completely vanished.

Even on Rori/Kettemoor, I'm seeing an average of one to two resources that I count on disappearing per day. But losing Sakovag, man, that really hurt. (No, I am not telling anyone what I found to use as a substitute. Do your own bloody surveying, this time.)

Personally, I blame the people with the 12-hour overnight sampling scripts. With level 4 in Surveying, those people are stripping resources out of the ground at about three to four times the speed of a harvester. OK, you can only do it with one resource at a time, unlike harvesters. But I think that, as more and more people succumb to the temptation to macro their sampling while asleep or at work, we're just plain sucking resources out of the ground faster than the developers expected.

Which leads me to my first actual call for a nerf. Developers, limit all macro execution times to five minutes, please!

I don't think mining the resource has anything to do with it turning over. I have 4 harvesters of Epeeism Steel on Bria, planet Rori, and its about the only thing that hasn't turned over. Now that I said that, it probably will, doh.

Anyway, yes, it is a bit crazy. Hopefully the new patch will address the issue to some extent.

Why do you have 4 harvesters on Epeeism? That stuff is crap!
