Thread: Just how similar does similar items mean?

When crafting, and it asks for 4 similar items, does that mean the exact same materials or the same class?



For example, if you made a structural module from iposef ( a type of siliclastic ore) and cubirian ( a type of steel), would you need an identical components or just siliclastic ore and a type of steel?

It might be asking for factory manufactured components. Some of the more complex items in the game require exact duplicates of components made in a factory.

I had to try it just to find out. I used aluminum and steel and two different siliclastic ores to make the blocks for a small house. All worked together to make one house. It's possible different types of ores, say a carbonate or extrusive would be incompatible.


Note these experiments were done on small houses only, can't say about anything else.


I think this "similar" is a leftover from a time in beta when you needed factory-made components to make a factory. Go figure.
