Thread: What materials are you artisans using to make your powerups.
To me it seems that not only does overall quality effect the stats on your powerups but also the type of materials. I have used different types of minerals and seem to get alot more success' and higher stat enhancements using metals as opposed to other minerals. I was wondering what types of materials other artisans are using. Thanks
You should be getting 28% 28% with that, before experimentation.
Make sure you use a general/weapon tool, with positive efficiency.
And that is what thew me of. I thought the platinite copper was the ressurce with 970% Conductivity, which you can use to build great tools.
Here's the skinny. Sometimes Overall Quality is important. Sometimes it means absolutely nothing.

When you bring up the crafting schematic and you're preparing to choose your resources, look in the bottom right corner. There's a window there for the item you're creating which shows the resource stats that are important, how important they are, and what aspect of your creation they are important for. For example, if you're making a crafting tool, the only resource stats that matter are Conductivity and Decay Resistance. If Using something with high Overall Quality here won't matter at all. If the pertinent stats are good, your weapon will be, too. CDEF weapons, on the other hand, need Conductivity and Overall Quality.

Best I have made were from high quality platnite copper and inert petrochemical.
That's because Platinite copperhas very high Conductivity. Anything that requires Conductivity will do well with it. It also usually has an Overall Quality in the double-digits, though, so it's pretty worthless for the aspects of an item that require Quality.

Well, I know that it's random, and the only stat on the resource that matters is OVERALL QUALITY.
Incorrect, sir. We have some lovely parting gifts for you, though.

Just look at what the specific schematic needs, and use something with high stats in the important values. OQ is frequently important, but sometimes it means nothing.

They require high just OQ, 100% of the experimentation value.
Otherwise, yes, I agree with you
Powerups by Rho are currently being crafted from 999 OQ steel and 985 OQ petrochemicals, and are all experimented to a 99% effectiveness level. This gives about a 33 and a quarter percent boost to the main attribute, with a little over 16% for the secondary.
Right now I'm relying on my inventory mined two weeks ago, because materials this good are not currently found on Corellia/Kauri.
Only one stat matters for powerups
verall Quality.
I found some quality 930 or so Polymer (Duritav, I think) and quality 980+ Ore (Erog?) on Rori/Tarquinas, made sure I mined as much as I could with my one-man, personal-harvester only operation, and have enough to keep me making powerups for a long time, at least while I'm only hand-grinding. I regularly get +96% experimentation resulting in a +33 to +35 percent powerup. About 3 out of every four I make is worth selling, meaning, I consume 40 resources to get 3 to sell, I sell them for 125 credits each, and that means I'm getting 9.3 credits a resource.
If there's a difference between OQ 950 Metal and OQ 950 Ore, I've never seen it. Ditto different kinds of chemical. OQ seems to be all that matters.
