Thread: Question about character statistics

I'm quite new to SWG and started out as a marksman (now mastered). I've fairly recently decided I want to head along the Artisan and Droid Engineer route. I've never been a crafter in previous games but I find them really interesting in SWG. On character creation I accepted the base marksman stats ... not really wanting to mess around with the stats too much incase I made a mistake. Obviously this isn't really an idea starting point if I plan to master Artisan and Droid Engineer. So my question (I'm sorry if there has already been a post of this nature ... I've not found it in the message search) ... what sort of levels should I change my stats to? I understand how they function and the efficiency/regeneration side of the secondary stats but how do they pan out in practice?

At the moment with base humanmarksman stats I have :-

Health : 1100

Str : 550

Con : 400

Action : 900

Quick : 550

Stam : 400

Mind : 700

Foc : 400

Will : 400

Base Artisan stats for a Human :-

Health : 700

Str : 400

Con : 400

Action : 900

Quick : 500

Stam : 400

Mind : 1000

Foc : 500

Will : 600

I understand the drop in health related stats. Fine with that but under this template my action pool would actually be less effective. The increase to Mind I can accept but is mind that much more important to crafting than action? How would the base Artisan template work in practice and would it be dramatically better than the Marksman template? Even as a marksman I've been wanting to increase Mind for the PvP aspect of things but I thought I would appeal to you much more knowledgeable types for pointers and suggestions on what I should change based on actual experience rather than my shakey guess work

Thanks for your time.

Bah, can't edit. Thought I should add that I plan on keeping up some aspects of Marksman and possibly gainsome rileman skills so I can kill things with friends. I'm quite pants at PvP but find that fun too.

The base stats don't really affect crafting much at all, so if you plan to have marksman and your stats are already migrated to benefit that, then I would leave it that way.

I can't really think of a situation where your HAM bar and secondaries really affect the crafting process. The only thing that comes to mind is when you are surveying, as it drains the HAM a little but that isn't going to matter whatever your stats are at as you generally they regen faster than the intervals between surveys.

Crafting is generally down to the resources you can obtain and how many experimentation points you have available to you.

I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you, they are probably best migrated to the combat side of things if you intend to keep combat as the stats will benefit that class more than a crafting class imo.
