Thread: Vehicle Customisation Kits bugged or just not very good?

Color lifespan is based on how many times you called your vehicle from your datapad.

AFAIK it is 20 calls for vehicle and 50 for droids.

It doesn't help anyone and is a pain in the a

the color decay is rediculous high and its not even worth coloring them thats why u see most vehicles everywhere in standard color.

dunno how stupid a person must be to set the fading to 20 or 50 calls lol. shows just not really brain at all.

1000 calls or so would be ok, even to fast for RL compares but well its a game tho.

but under 1000 calls is simply silly. coloring is for fun factor and should not be for uber sales increase (BTW devs. that dont work at all, cause in this situation we got, NOBODY buys it really)

I'm still confused as to why VCKs are linked to calls. My RL car doesn't fade when I pull it out of the garage, it fades over time in the sun. VCKs should be good for so many condition points, say an experimentable multiplier of the total vehicle condition. A really, really good VCK would be good for 10-20x the total vehicle HP.

It would probably be a pain, but the best idea I had that had something to do with what the dev think would be to add customization skill to the lifespan, but this would only work on droid I think.

Don't remember if there is a cstomization skill for artisan (beside cloth and armor).

I used a VCK on all 3 of my vehicles the other day. My swoop and my speederbike have had similar usage but my swoop hasn't started to 'fade' yet while my speeder gave me ONE 'fade' message and the next time I called it is was back to stock colours.

This was approximately 36 hours after I used the VCK on it...

Is this a bug, or are these things really just not worth using? A day and a half for 1K? (VCK was 2.5K, used 2 charges on the speeder).

I bought it because I believe in allowing new MAs to make some money, but keeping my vehicle coloured at that decay rate is going to be a nuisance.

I'll probably hunt the guy down and buy a crate off him later (assuming they come in crates) but 36 hours does seem a bit short for a paint job. In my opinion it should last at LEAST five days, no matter how much you use the vehicle.

It's 'fiddle factor' again - the more you make a player fiddle around to get a result that is not essential, the less likely he is to bother doing it again...

From my own experience, experimenting during crafting only raises the number of charges. The VCKs are notorious for being short-lived, though, depending on how often you use your vehicle.

I agree...its just a way for the Devs to create another 'credit sink' to get rid of our money. At least make it worth what we put into them in terms of time and components.

and exactly such the devs failed totally. nobody buys the kits cause of this rediculous short lifespan, thats all our discussion is about.

it has to last WAY longer or perma, either way, but such amount atm is far away from making customers buy kits frequently or even twice

I hate the fact that they fade. I wouldn't mind paying more for the kits as I'm sure it would cost but the change should be permanent. Even here in the 21st century we have long lasting paint jobs.
