Sorry for posting this in the artisan forums, could not think of where else to ask.

I know Fusion Generators are for radioactive....but...

Would it pull more out of the ground then a heavy harvester if they are both ber 10?

If they are both the same BER and both pulling radioactive material and placed on the exact same percentage of concentraion, then they will both pull the same amount.

But, it would be cheaper per unit to use a fusion generator, generators don't require power to operate, just maintainance. The mineral harvesters take maintainance and a power source.

Generator uses just money to run, harvester uses money and power.

Fusions can have higher BER rates than mineral extractors too, 14 is tops I believe.

Every once in a while insane BER fusions pop up in the trade forums. I'd dearly love some BER 26 fusions of my own but alas they're out of my price range.

(there were only makeable for a short time so there's very few around. ber 14 is the max now)

Also, a Heavy Mineral harvestor requires 90 credits per hour in Maintenance, plus 75 units of power per hour, while a Fusionrequires 60 credits per hour of maintenance, and no power at all.

I think I know whick one I prefer.

So if you can afford the intial investment, fusions are the way to go.

Generally speaking radioactives with good PE spawns more frequenly (in my experience) than wind or solar with good PE. (thus it will take fewer units of radioactives to equal the same amount of power into your other harvs)

I have a ber 28 and several 26's along with smaller increments. They are very nice for harvesting with!

Just a note... PE is never above 500 on wind or solar that I am aware of. meaning.. one real unit of resource = one real unit of power.

Because PE matters on rads, 1 unit of rad resource will always be worth a minimum of 1 real unit of power at pe 500 and a maximum of 2 units of power at pe1000

Is it just me or are Fusion gens pulling up less radioactive than several months ago?

Ive been away for over 3 monthsand I came back this month. I placed a Fusion gen and did the math on a per/minute basis. It looked like theyre pulling up less than they were when I was here months ago.

It would net more, because the mineral harvester takes some power to run, but the costs are even more different than that as others have pointed out because of the maint difference.

If your only objective is to pull up a pile of some high PE, OQ radioactive spawn with the least cost in the short run, it is pretty much a tossup and depends on the price you pay for the harvesters you can find. At those BER stats, both are pretty much worthless for the serious miner, maybe belowthe re-deed cost. You can get Medium Mineral's at BER10 that are cheaper to run for the same product, and I don't know if a BER 10 fusion is even possible, the base may be 11. But if you can fill your lots with them, they will pull out a lot of product.

Realistic BERs are 14 for the fusion and 12 for the mineral. Lower BER units get discounted steeply in price because the profits are much lower from running them. If you are looking for the least cost on anything but energy, run mediums, but you won't get as much product. Ifyou have a spawn of anything valuable, selling the extra productmay pay for the cost of a heavy in a single spawn.

Even if power is only worth 1 cr/u in your area, a BER 14fusion is profitable on a 10% spawn of PE500, so you can guess how much you can make on a typical 70% spawn of PE 750. (My figures show over 20k/day) Of course selling that much takes some work too.

At 1cr/u, a BER 12 heavy doesn't break even until 25% at PE500.
