Hi everyone, I'm a little new to the crafting scene, so I was hoping you could help me with something. This question pertains to the formula one uses when calculating how good a resource will be for a particular item. What is it, and what are the percentages next to the characteristic of the resource (OQ, PE, DR, etc.) in the crafting window? If anyone knows what this formula is, I'd greatly appreciate being let in on it.

I'm not sure, but try this:

It varies depending on the item you are making.

For example:

I am an Architect and I make a lot of Harvestors. If I look at the experimental properties of the Heavy Mineral Harvestor (since that's what most people want) I see this:

Experimental Efficiency:
Extraction Rate
Heat Resistance:25%

Shock Resistance:25%

Unit Toughness:50%

Experimental Storage:
Hopper Size
Malleability:33%

Unit Toughness:66%

This means that what ever resources I use need to be high in Heat Resistance (HR), Shock Resistance (SR), Unit Toughness (UT) and Malleability (MA) to get me the best possible final product.

Most people who want harvestors want the highest extraction rate possible, and aren't really concirned about the hopper size, so we usually just worry about the first three.

So, I get some steel with HR of 567, SR of 893 and UT of 740. 25% of 567 is 141.75, 25% of 893 is 223.25 and 50% of 740 is 370. This gives me a total figure of 141.75 + 223.25 + 370 = 735. This means that the best I can experiment the Extraction Rate to is 73.5%, which isn't really good enough (to get a max BER harvestor you need to get the experimentation of the Extraction rate to about 90%).

So, if I use the other steel I have with a HR of 966, SR of 994 and UT of 934, I end up with a final result of (241.5 + 284.5 + 467) 993, giving me a maximum experimentation of the Extraction Rate of 99.3%, more than enough.

Also,if a resource doesn't have a particular stat, then that stat is not counted for that resource. This means a resource without UT would give me 50% HR and 50% SR, and a resource without HR would give me 33.3% SR and 66.7% UT.

The only other thing to know is that if a item takes multiple different resources, then you work out the final result by working out each individual resource, and then working out the percentage of each resource in the final result (does that make sense?). For example, if I have an item that takes 300 units of resource A, and 100 units of resource B, the final experimentation maximum will be 75% of resource A's result plus 25% of resource B's result.

I hope this helps. Does someone want to add something like this to the FAQ?

Enjoy
