Thread: Survey XP the bane of my life

Now, im no hologrinder lets get that straight from the beginning, i want to make it as an artisan and architect but before going archi i want to fully master Artisan so i can make some cash without having TEF or massive BF, but surveying XP must be the slowest thing on earth lol.
How do people do it? It takes me ages just to get level I
if anyone can share some tips to good surveying please do

Find a good concentration and do that. Overnight.

You can get to Survey 4 in a few days using his method. SWG is supposed to be fun. Sitting at the computer watching yourself survey= not fun.
Do it when sleeping or at work/school.

I actually got a action and secondary stat buff then found a 95% spot of gas and sat there sampling it for hours.
The trick is to have someone with survey 4 next to u to teach you right away (i bored a friends alt for this) and to have a heavy weight on the "Enter" key which stops those pesky "spend 300 action to do jack all" boxes from coming up.
Also get some Chandad from your local chef, I found sampling so much fast while on this stuff as I didnt fail to locate anywhere near as much as usal which is high at survey 1.

I have had this game for a long time and never really tried Artisan andnever really messed with any of themacro stuff.Is this macor exactly the way that it is typed?

When you create the macro, name it exactly what I named it.
You can then copy/paste from the first "/" to the last ";" and it will work. Assuming I didn't typo anything, heh.

Also note that you can craft while you survey, so it's the perfect thing to do when you're next to a crafting station making a few things you can use (or when waiting for a shuttle, for that matter).

I'd say you should stick with the Macro option. Find a safe spot (where you won't be attacked),that has a high % vein (85%or higher)of resource under it, setup the macro, run it, and go to work. When you come home you'll have enough XP to fill Survey IV, and without the pain...
Bonus: you'll have about 7k of the resource in your inventory for use later on...

I gained all my survey XP surveying for places to plant harvesters. It took me about a month, but then it took me two months to master Artisan. But then I'm a casual player.
Play the game however you want. But I was able to make quite a bit of money selling resources while surveying at 64m, 128m, etc. The 320m is nice but certainly isn't a requirement to making money as a miner or for getting materials to craft with.

Huh? You don't get survey exp for the survey action. Only for the sample action. Right? Or am I missing something?

Yes, you are correct. The normal plan is to survey, sample. See if it's any good. If it is, plant a harvester. If not, go on to the the next item.
Admittedly slow, but then I wasn't watching XP. Admittedly at the time the only thing Master Artisans could make was a bird cage, so I was really in no rush.

When the macro gets to the /m sampleForever; I get an error message saying that it was unable to execute macro: sampleForever I typed everything exactly. Everything else works the kneel sample and stand but just not the last part. Is there something else I should be doing, and do you get survey xp from harvestors?

Make sure you named the macro sampleForever <- exactly like that. It is case-sensitive.
You do not get survey exp from harvesters.
