I mastered in September too! I remember receiving a free X34 landsdpeeder when I was still novice, the next day I mastered and made myself a swoop. The person who gave me the X34 saw me and the flaming began! I wish I could find that person...

Last night, for the first time in his creation, Tevin Stargunner was NOT an artisan.
I dropped it completely to make room for those Smuggling boxes I need to master.
Not that anyone cares but I was an Artisan from the first September. I mastered the old fashion way- just before the holo craze- with very little macroing.
I was around when vehicles came out and we argued and undercut each other in game and on the forums. All of which resulted in Coronet becoming a huge parking lot.
It has been a long time since I've posted on this forum and I really don't have any idea what state the profession is in but I figure all the time I spent as an Artisan- I should say something.
I wish you all good luck. It was fun craftin'. Now I gotta shoot and smuggle stuff.
Well, at least shoot stuff.
I should note that 5 minutes after I dropped I went to craft some spice and realized my food crafting tool was on the fritz. I thought I would craft another but...I just dropped Artisan. D'oh!
Oh well. LATER SUCKAS!!!!!
*editors note
Tevin Stargunner was later turned overt and shot in Kor Vella for running around with a crate of thrusterhead in his underwear.

I salute you with all my heart. As an artisan (at least novice) since beta, Ive cherished the profession as one of the more well-rounded of the basics.
I was a DE for almosta year and a half and to make room, I will have to drop artisan eventually in the near future, the last of my crafting roots. I will keep business IV as long as I can, as I believe business is a necessary component of a Smuggler but artisan will always be my longest profession, in one way or another.

Artisan was my first mastery, done without the grind that has become so popular.
Remember when getting 1000 units of steel from a personal harvester made you seem rich beyond words?

Who else remembers walking thousands of meters looking for resource spawns, with no bikes, no mounts.
and...shuttle waits of 10 minutes...
and...heavy harvesters with a BER of 7...
and...the patch errors, where every combine was amazing rolls...
Now, those were the good old days...

I also remember feeling so kick ass powerful when I pulled up anything over 1000 units as well.
I had scout so I would walk completely across Corellia using mask scent and firing my survey tool every couple of steps.
It was an AWESOME time- but I like this latest patch a WHOLE LOT.

What's the holo craze? Is it some sort of way to get easy exp points?

Alaino, that was refreshing...
A long time ago, the way to Jedi-hood was by mastering a certain number of professions. The professions you had to Master for Jedi-hood was different for each person...
But 6 months after launch, their were still no Jedi, and LucasArts was unhappy and SOE, who could see that some people were close to Jedi but unknowingly so (we didn't know that Mastery of professions unlocked Jedi) they introduced Holocrons and Sith Holocrons. By using one of these a mysterious voice would tell you what profession you needed to Master. If you used another after Mastering that profession the new one would tell you yet another you needed.
This holo-craze spawned a massive wave of Grinding, since people figured it was easier to Master everything than it was to try to find Holo's. Holo's themselves only dropped from certain hard to kill NPC's and went for millions of credits each...
