I'm out surveying on the mount and my blue bar is going waaaay down, and fast. I don't remember this happening before and I've mined millions of units. Was it always this way or is this a stealth Combat Balance thing?

Always been that way. You probably didn't notice it before because surveying took a little longer so your mind had time to recharge between surveys.

As far back as I can remember, surveying has always used up mind, and sampling has used up mind and action.

Surveying on a mount or vehicle definitely speeds up this drain, though.

Some tips:

Don't wear armor while surveying, or at least take off the helmet (the component with the major mind hit).

Food buffs canalso help. BE-enhanced brandy may be overkill, but even without a BEyou can get +220ish Brandy for 45m. One of those (maybe two) should be enough to keep you going. There's also Caf (+45-50 willpower and 15 fill for 45-60m) or Ahrisa (+200ish focus and 33 fill for 45m).

So the newest change allows us to survey while driving around, and one of the ways to increase our mind for surveying is brandy. Why is SOE condoning drinking and driving. lol.

My friend wants to know a good macro on surveying while hes afk email yrckid or owrik also his mind keeps going down so if the macro could include brandy that would be great.

Ahrisa is the way to go, +400 should keep any race's blue bar up.
