Thread: Additional ways to get surveying exp?

I just took up Novice Artisan, although I am a Master Combat Medic and well on my way up Pistoleer tree, so that I could survey formy own medical supplies. When I gained Novice Artisan I noticed that I already had 1000 surveying exp, qualifying for Surveying I even though I had just gained the skill for the first time. How did I get this experience without ever touching a crafting tool?


Also I was wondering when I went out surveying, why are the specific resources I'm looking for not available? I'm probably asking this question too hasily since I've only tried surveying on one planet so far, I assume that when I go to another planet there will be different resources to survey for, but if that isn't the case how do I get the specific ones I'm looking for?

After doing some additional reading I answered my own second question. If anyone is gonna reply there's no need to answer that one.

There was a bug awhile back where some kind of xp was giving survey XP instead of the correct xp..could've been how you got survey xp..don't remember exact nature of bug, though.
