Thread: private machines
You mean the private crafting stations required for some high-level items? Architects can build ones to be included in houses. You can also get a crafting module included in a droid from a Droid Engineer. Either of those count as a private station.
Crafting stations run about 15-30k (depending on type and your server's market), droids with crafting modules maybe 10-20k. The droid modules can't get as high effectiveness, but it's still unclear whether that makes a difference or not.
Of course this is proly considered and exploit. I think of it as RP, if someone left the front door to their house open and crafting station powered up and unlocked. I just gotta assume s/he's been right neighborly and wants me to use it.
I don't think of it as an exploit. My house holds my vendor and so is public, and if people want to use my crafting stations, they are welcome to. Of course, mine aren't 40+ stations
If you have that kind, you can charge an access fee to your house for using them.
Beware though, most crafting stations in private houses aren't very good. Almost none of them are positive stats at all, usually -10 to -20. Not that anyone is entirely sure what that means!
And of course, most cities of any size have crafting stations, so you can experiment there too.
