I HATE surveying, which is a bit of a blow as I wanna be an artisan, I've got to level 1 engineering by just buying resources and making "things" but i had a new theory, surely its just as easy (and more fun) to run imperial missions (or rebel if it works the same for them, i have no idea) to get money and fact points, then use faction points on general crafting exp (it doesn#t take THAT much to level) and the cash on resources. Is this a good idea or am i being stupid (I have only just started)

Surveying is boring , but easy . I would just suck it up and knock it out and go on the things you enjoy about being an Artisan. IMOHO

If you like killing stuff more than crafting, perhaps artisan isn't for you.

You can easily macro crafting experience (you only click the resources in) when you are running somewhere or waiting at a starport or macro surveying. If you mix the grind in with other activities that you would do anyway, it doesn't feel like quite as big a grind.
