The other day I decided to level up a bit in artisan and so I did a few quests to make up enough money to buy a load of the cheapest metal. I then started to craft the first musical instrument that you can create (i forget the name) in practice mode. I had a few tools so I was doing a couple at a time, and after a while I decided to check on how my experience was progressing.

Unfortunatly it hadn't gone up at all...

Has anyone else come across this?

Also in practice mode apparently you should get 5% to the 2xp per resource you use. Is this right? And is it always constant no matter how many of one item you make?

Thanks in advance.

I may be mistaken, but I dont think you get artisan xp crafting a musical instrument because you get the schematic as part of the entertainer skillset. Sort of like if you have the medic skillset as an artisan you don't get any artisan xp when you build stimpacs. try building some of the items you get schematics for as an artisan like clothing or tools etc.

Everything should give some kind of xp as far as I'm concerned. They all take resources, time to craft and the care of crafters no matter what the profession is. So why no xp. I haven't checked what gives xp and what doesn't, I just assumed I was getting. However I have no problem with gaining xp as I craft anything I can get my hands on. Early on, I only crafted stims, cdef pistols to sell and everything else for practice. I would gain xp fast but really don't know what was giving me xp and what was not. The things I make aren't always best quality but they sell pretty fast aslook on the bazaar to see what the going price of the item is and I price mine about 50% less than that. I can keep nothing on the bazaar for more than a day, well except when i sell them in cities that don't have a lot of traffic. But now I just sell stuff only in theed, anchorhead and coronet where major activity is (at least on a my server).

It's gotten to the point where my artisan xp is gaining so fast compared to the rest of my other professions that I might drop everything else and become a full time artisan.....I'm currently a master marksman seeking to become a commando. I grabbed artisan to craft my own items so as to not waste money buying things. If you look at my profession progression below, you can see that my character is very self sufficient, but that will come to an end soon since I'm running out of skill points and I will have to make a choice whether to drop artisan or not. Right now I'm leaning towards keeping it as it makes me some pretty good cash over all.

Also, I do an extreme amount of artisan crafting missions which give lots of xp. I started a new character and I could actually shoot through whole tree to master in about 2 days if I crafted everyday. I made 3/1/3/2 with that new character in one day doing artisan missions from deeja peek to moenia which on average gives about 1200 - 1400 credits per mission. I found this very productive for making money and making xp, but once you make the 3rd tier you'll probably have to start crafting some of those nice little things you have schematics for to get higher xp.
