No. You need to sample the resource that meets or exceeds the required concentration rate. Here's the catch you need to sample at least 1024 Meters away from the spot where the mission was given to you. So if you are asked to find a pocket of gas at a concentration rate of 55% You must find a spot that has at least 55% and it must 1024 Meters away. Once you find your spot sample it and your mission will be over and your reward will be placed in your inventory.

I have just started following the artisan skill tree and have successfully done a few crafting missions but when i try to do survey missions im stuck, ive just took a mission froma guy who wants gas but it doesnt say which kind of gas he wants or how much of this gas he wants. I cant find the info in my data pad just the basic mission description that just says gas. Does this mean that i can collect any kind of gas at all? And do i just keep collecting samples until im told to stop????

you don't actually have to sample the resource, just survey for the required amount. once that 55% or whatever your looking for shows up in your survey tool for the area you surveyed you'll be payed immediately and mission will be complete.

How ever, I must say that survey missions are terrible for making money and only good if you are looking for a certain resource yourself. Otherwise, just do the crafting missions if it's for the xp or money. surveying xp can be gained as you do other things in the game like camping or running from point a to point b.I had my surveying maxed for a long time nowwithout even trying to as I like tosave money and sample my resources myself early on.I always survey while i'm running through the wilderness and if I see other peoples harvesters working hard somewhere I stop and sample the area for anything of good quality. Makes it less boring to just run from spot to spot surveying only to find that the highest concentration you can finally find after surveying for 2000 meters is only 40% or 50%. Personally, I settle for nothing less than 70% for efficiency and 65% on occassion. anything less and its a waste of time because the rate at which you sample or your haveseters work is determined by the resource density, the higher the better. This is important because if your looking to get a certain amount of a resource, you want to get it as fast as possible because you never know when resources will shift and you only end up with 600 when you actually wanted 1k or more of something.
