So a new Liquid Petrochem Fuel pops and Its right near my house....so I want to chek th quality to see just how luck I am (even though reactive gas disapeared from the planet...need them both,,,for Com Med stuff) and It keeps telling me that the resource is too low....yet It surveyed at 82% (yes I have survey iV). This happened about a month back with a 92% Fiberplast spot. I registered this as a bug...but never heard anything from Customer Service...go figure.

Anyone else seeing this ????

Is this a known problem ???

This occurs after resource shifts, you should be able to sample it in a few hours. It's one of the 'pet-peeve' artisan bugs that I think we will all be glad to see gone.

I hated this bug at first, but there is an upside. If you find a high resource deposit and cannot sample it, guess what! You just found a brand new resource spawn, This means you can confidently place a harvester on it for five days. Even though you can't hand sample right away, a harvester will still work on the first day. So it is not all bad

Wow, I'm very happy somebody asked this. Even as a newbie, I've had at least two of these experiences. Survey, see great resources at 80+ percent and I can't sample. At the time, had me tearing my hair out because I thought I had a great find. Happy to know I still do.

Try the search, this exact same questions is asked at least twice each and every day since the game was released.

That will tell you all how good SOE is at fixing bugs.
Expect it fixed in a year or two if you are lucky.

Also, this problem occurs when it is a very rare material, your surveying has to be maxed or you have to put up a harvester >shrug< i haven't had this problem since i mastered surveying

I raise my hand high on this issue you are nto alone but I sure thought i was. nothing more frustrating than sampling one mineral @ 16% and cant sample another at 85% after 2 hours of surveying!!!!!!

my answer is i always carry a few personal extractors, which can be found on the bazzar for as low as 400 creds and plop it down. not only will it give you a sample but let you check for all other resources in that area and sample them as well. more than likely the others you'll be able to sample by hand. if it's trash and you dont want to bother just destroy the extractor and get your lot back. screw waiting a day. a day could mean you miss out on some nice resources for what 400 credits??

I hadn't thought about that use for a personal harvester. What if the Devs took it one step further and gave us adisposable surveying tool that did the same thing?

You place it and it tells you the concentration of every resource in the area. Select a specific resource and it gets the specific stats for that resource. All this is displayed on one screen so you don't end up having to go to your inventory to check the stats and then deleting single resources to save space. The advantage is that you can figure out if you want to trace down a material with a low percentage but high stats without having to wait for your harvester to harvest to sample a unit for each. It'sa one time use object that's more efficient but costs more to use than hand sampling. So it decreases your time spent searchingbut is a small money sink for surveyors. It is easier to use than a harvester, but not be able to take more than a one unit sample. I know it would makeharvestingmore enjoyable for me.

What do ya'll think?
