Thread: ARTISAN WAYPOINTS
I also noticed this. I happened to me after I did a lot of surveying. It seemed to work for a while (updating waypoints), then stopped updating, and I couldn't create a new one, rename one or anything. It seemed to fill up some invisible memory somewhere.
I solved it by logging off and logging back on.
it's not always locked in one posistion and destroying and/or deactivating it should definantly take it off
I noticed this happening as well, also noticed that the survey waypoint seemed to 'lock' after it set itself in specific areas (i.e. in water/shallow stream etc). You can not delete once this occurs, you can not rename, you can not add another waypoint. The only thing you can do is activate or de-activate the waypoints.I also had someone send me a waypoint andI could save it, but not see it. After logging off, and logging back in, you can delete the survey waypoint, and any others that you added after it started 'locking'
It is a strange bug indeed, it's almost like the datapad just gets tied up, and cant refresh itself..... all the other actions that create waypoints seem to work, the datapad just refuses to update. (maybe the datapad is running some future version ofwinblows ![]()
I've just noticed the same problem. Additionally, if I open the datapad and try to create a waypoint of my own it doesn't show up! The first time I noticed this, I, of course, hit the "New Waypoint" button several times, so when I relogged in my datapad had about 6 extra waypoints... lol
Logging off and relogging on fixed it for a while
It's good to see that im not the pnly one with WP problems.
But im not satisfied with disconnecting every time i have done surveying.
The question is: Do the developers know about this problem? are they doing something about it?
Known issue, yep. And has been for quite some time. It's caused by surveying while running, or while the game THINKS you are running. Due to lag, you can appear to be standing completely still, yet the game hasn't caught up yet, and still thinks you're moving. If you create a waypoint under these conditions, whether manually or by using a survey tool, waypoints become bugged in your datapad in the manner you described.
No need to completely log out. Just hit Shift+Esc and choose "disconnect". When you reconnect, the problem will be fixed (until it gets bugged again).
I have much better luck surveying while walking, strangely enough. I have my survey tools and my "Survey Resources" macrohot-keyed on the bottom of a toolbar. This means I have to hold down the Shift key to survey. When I'm tracking down a resource, I will hold down the shift key for about 5 seconds before hitting the F8 button to "Survey Resources". Holding the Shift key down forces my character into a walk. It's not foolproof, but I seem to be able to create active waypoints to the highest concentrations for much longer before I get this waypoint bug.
