Thread: Nerf or no nerf,my medium is still using 50 EU per 1/2Hr...
So is this energy thing permanent?
If so, it is the nerf to end all nerfs.
I've seen some people on another thread here say it is only the display that has changed...
Well I thought it was only on the display also...
That was untilI experimented, by loading in a half hours worth (used to be 25 units!) and seeing how long it lasted.
Came back half hour later and it is gone.
Now this may be a screw up (andwho knows we haven'tenough of those lately ) where they changed the display to be more "user-friendly" and forgot to change the algorithm to keep the power rates the same.
Personally I think this is a change to push up costs on items, but there are several faults in this line of thinking.
We all know how much cheaper energy had become with everyone who had a spare lot running a windmill on it, even if they were combat or whatever, just to make a little extra money on the side.
Now with increased demand for energy, and an effective halving of the amount in circulation overnight (as it is now worth half what it was), we will see prices more than double as people with heavies rush to buy up the necessary amounts to supplement them until they can set up more fusions or solars.
This will lead on to a 30-50% rise in the cost of resources and consequently the prices of ALL crafted items !
Would it not have made a lot more economic sense to increase the maintenance cost on generators which would have had the (presumed) desired effect...?
Then again these are computer programmers not economists, so how would they know...?
If this is a nerf then I personally am gonna have to examine my career choices at this point. As a budding WS I need to have 4 heavies running for a few weeks to satisfy my alarming habit for steel/metal to grind.
If this is a mistake I hope it is sorted VERY soon, and if it is permanent I WANT TO SEE IT IN THE PATCH NOTES !!!
Since it is an intrinsic part of the whole galaxian economy and effects EVERYONE.
The crafters will feel it first and then we will have people complaining to us that our stuff is too expensive, that we are ripping the combat proffessions off, etc.
I sincerely hope I am wrong and that my calculations are bad. Right now I'm panicking, running all over Naboo and putting what energyI have into the heavies/mediums. This needs to be fixed ASAP if it is as Q3-PO says, a bug created by a fix...
DEVS...
Responses please...?!?!
Bianca said she is looking into this, and she will hopefully have an answer soon from the Correspondent Forum.
When I finally got on last night, I spent 2 hours on 3 planets servicing my fleet of 18 heavies (I got lucky on shuttles, lol). I left them each with 4400 credits and 7200 power, which will run them for 48 hours if you believe the new figures in the status display. It totally tapped my emergency stockpile of power I had built up for those times when radioactives just disappear completely from the server.
I'm going to log in this morning and check one of the harvesters, and do some figuring. Hopefully, I'll be able to come up with a power consumption figure, based on the amount of time the harvester has run since I deposited power late last night.
I'll post my findings.
They are using twice as much power as they did before the patch from hell.
Finally got in this morning for the first time, my personal harvesters used to take 600 units of power per 24 hours and the mediums were 1200 units of power per 24 hours.
Now my personal is 1200 units per 24 hours and the medium is 2400 units of power per 24 hours
TWICE as much as before.

Read the official Announcement forum. Any changes to harvestors were not intentional and will be fixed after they are first investigated.
I'm not stupid, I've read it, but that doesn't and won't change the fact that until this IS fixed all harvesters are using TWICE the amounts. For some one with 3 heavies and 5 mediums this represents and extra expenditure of 13,200 units PER DAY, which even at current low prices on my server, amounts to in and around 15,000 credits. I am faced with the choice of shutting them down till it's fixed and thus forfeiting maintenance charges that are already paid up. Also this as I stated is gonna lead to a doubling in energy prices as people like my self move to get as much as they can. Shortage will ensue.
Do I pass these prices on to my clients...? How do I remain competitive...?
The h3ll with investigations...fix the algorithm or rollback the UI which was changed. Was it so hard to figure out what something was costing by the half hour that they felt the need to turn around and change it...?
If you were using a medium for your experiment then thats what they should be doing. If you put in 25units then it should last 30minutes at 50units/hour which is what mediums were at before the patch.

Sorry that post was written in haste, while I was alt-tabbing between here and the game...
I have reevaluated the experiment and the energy costs are double what they should be. It's been almost 10hrs since I posted and I've gone to a medium and it has eaten 960units of 500oq wind energy...
Go see for yourself, if you don't take my word on it...
