Artisan Archive

Back in the opening weeks of this game, I had started as an artisan and had been at level four, then maxed out with 20k extra survey points. After a while I lose the artisan, but still have 20k of exp. points in survey. Now I go back to use them and as soon as I get my survey 1, they take all of my additional exp. points away and I have to start over. I understand that you lose the points that you have already used, but if I never used them, why do they take the points away from me? I worked to get them in the first place, right? Oh, this is just too frustrating.....
