It's illegal and not in the game. With such a macro you could just set it to run and never play the game.

I know several people who tried this. Eventually, they all got banned- remember, it's not too difficult for them to tell that you're afk macro'ing- they can track you by online time, by the consistency of your clicking, etc.

Cant get banned for using whats provided in game. AFK sampling can be done without the use of any 3rd party programs.

Whoa man: that's like asking for a "bong" in a head shop. You're lucky they don't expel you from the game, hack your computer, set your house on fire, and kick your dog just for asking.

I don’t remember there ever being anything listed as ‘illegal’ in the EULA about AFK Macroing/surveying/crafting/killing (yeah, combat can be done, but…honestly…why?!). That’s not what people get booted/banned for…so, you’re safe in that aspect. Just like KayJay said.

A large portion of the player base doesn’t like it, but that doesn’t make it illegal. The ‘legalities’ of it, as I understand it, come in the use of something that affects the client side aspect of the programming. In other words, hacking the client, altering the client, etc. Now, if someone can point to me a specific developer quote, or quote a bit from the TOS I can read later (when I’m home) I’ll happily retract my belief in this.

I only know of one way to do it, but it would require a game pad. People can try to scream this is illegal all they want, however every game I’ve ever played has always supported mice, keyboards, and gamepads. Until Sony makes some statement saying it IS against the EULA/TOS/Whatever, then you can do it.

All you need to do is find a gamepad that allows something like rapid fire or a similar macro/macro like function that can have a key set for a mouse click. Most gamepads can effectively function as a mouse. I know several people who play MMORPGs using them. Just line it up, press your finger on the button, kick back, and take a nap.

Wireless mice work well too for that. Set up the crafting macro, take the mouse into the room with the TV (assuming the range is enough) and just click away!

Either way, you’re not altering the game in any way…so…[[shrugs]] up to you. If you have a gamepad/wireless mouse, great…if not? It’s not worth wasting the money on extra stuff for a game.

I know people in the game that use crafting macros with no 3rd party software and have been doing so for months.

Yes but said macros don't add the resources needed to teh schem and do all of the work. The best you can do (from waht I've seen) is run a crafting macro that opens the tool, selects the schematic, allowing you time to click on the resources and then closing out the session and you gaining the XP. To have the resoureces auto insert you need either a mouse with some kind of built in macro features or a 3rd party program. And yes using what's in the game and provided will not get you banned or your account canceled, but using 3rd party software is covered under your license. So do this stuff at your own risk.
