Please god someone tell me that the person that developed (is developing) the trade skills and crafting aspect of SWG is NOT the same person that worked on the Everquest system! I'm sitting here fashioning Fiberplast Panels, and am on my FOURTH critical failure of only seven combines! As in Everquest the failure rate seems to be a totally guessed at percentage that factors in one everyone regardless of skill level... I mean give me a break, a Master Artisan failing on Fiberplast panels?!?! <frowns and goes back to his little crafting station>

I have an idea that MAY help.

If you haven't, craft up a new set of tools now that you are a MA. With all of your experimentation pointsand some decent materials you should be able to get your effectiveness into the 90s. It seems that higher effectiveness tools decreases your chance of Crit failures.

Hmmm can't hurt to try it Bianca, never really thought about going back to the prints on my tools again. I never got the progression behind experimentation points, maybe you can help me here? Are we getting more depending on what current skill rank we are, or do we get them based on the type of item we are crafting, or is it based on quality of tools? Some things I make I have a great deal of points, and others I only have a few points to use.

Experimentation points are awarded for specific branches of the given tree (e.g. artisan, weaponsmith, etc.). I don't recall where all of them existed on the artisan tree, but if you click on individual boxes you will see it in the lower left description. You climb the right branches, you get experimentation points.

This guy is a Master Artisan?

Those faction delivery missions sure didn't teach him much about his profession, huh?

No faction delivery missions for this fish. I haven't committed to one side or the other yet acutally, and delivery missions are like resource shopping, just boring as all get out. Thank you for the info on the experiment points though sir, I'll have to start looking more closely at the skills when I get them. I have an idea of what I want to eventually be mastered in so the minutae of it all escapes me from time to time. I don't do much min/maxing, I pretty much like to play the character out however it's interesting to me at the time. I might pop out 3 or 4 sets of bone armor one day, and make dozens and dozens of camp kits the next, just depending on whats fun at the time really. Hehehe that might explain why I stay pretty much broke (except on decent weapon sales when they're finished) and resource hopping (when I ought be learning the mastery behind harvester/factory management).

Bah... I have two homemade 95 percent w/d/g crafting tools, used them next to my +56 percent private crafting station, and still crit failed two manipulator arm packages in a row. Did I mention this was AFTER the resource shift on Naboo which took away extrusive ore?

Well I'm a Novice Droid Engi, and can't say I've had any stroke of bad luck through my career so far. Out of all my crafted items(gotta be 1K+ by now) I've probably not had more than 20 or so Crit Failures the entire time. Maybe I'm lucky, but I figure it's all working on random chances based on percentages right. So maybe you have tons of Crit Failures, and somebody might win the lottery - both are infrequent occurences.
