Thread: Gaining Crafting XP from item useage
I've been an Artisan for quite some time now (working on Master, don't got enough Apprentice XP yet, hehe), but one thing that I'm puzzled over is how in the manual it states that you gain Crafting XP from "Item Useage". I've made dozens and dozens of weapons, batteries, powerups, clothing, harvesters, etc... and sold it *all* on the Bazaar... but despite this, I rarely, if ever, see my Crafting XP going up on its own. I think I've gotten maybe 200 xp that I'm aware of the entire time I've been an artisan.
so, how exactly does the game determine "item use"? is it when you equip the item, or as it functions (like in the case of a weapon, whenever it attacks)? I'd figure given the number of harvesters I've sold I should have gotten a decent amount of XP from them... do you only gain XP when someone interacts with its' radial menu?
I'm about to move on to either Droid Engineer (yea, yea, I know...) or another master crafting class, and really don't want to end up grinding my way to mastery.
thanks,

UXP, or useage experience, suffers from what a lot of this game suffers from, a case of no clear information, leaving only rumor and guesswork. I will give my current theory from lots of playing and board reading. When someone ELSE uses an item that you created, and is within a certain radius, you recieve a small amount of the type of experience that the item gave you. The amount is very small, usually only a few points. UXP will not allow you to make a few items and sit back and watch your xp bar fill up unfortunatly. While I was working up through armorsmith, I think I got about 1000 UXP total, and that was with lot of bazaar selling. I don't know if it was supposed to be more, but as it stands now it saves only a few pieces work, and is not helpful.
Hope that helps.

hmm.... nope, the feature's still there, because I've been online and at times noticed my crafting XP jump up by a few points while I had my cursor on the XP monitor... so we do get it. if it's radius-based, it must be one heck of a large radius, because I was getting the XP out in the middle of nowhere on Tatooine with nary a soul around for miles.
also, being online has nothing to do with it, as I've logged off and then logged back on the next day with more XP than when I left.
thanks anyway guys, looks like it'll forever be a mystery.
anyone wanna buy a few hundred harvesters? ![]()
Odd, I wonder if it could be buggy? As I am a master Artisan
and have sold and given away tons of stuff since the beginning and don't
remember ever seeing any exp gained from it.
Nah ....what am I thinking, it couldn't be buggy, nevermind.
