Each schematic basically takes the next number as you get the them, so it depends entirely on what skills you took and in what order. So if you started as a novice scout, the first few schematics will be the basic camp and the first two traps. If you started as novice artisan, the first few would be survival knife, chance cube, CDEF pistol, etc. The next numbers are determined by what skills you took: if you went up the "Engineering" branch in artisan they'd be 12 sided dice, wooden staff, etc. If you went up the Domestic Arts branch; carbosyrup, blob candy, and so on.

One way to get in the right general area is to open up the "draft schematics" tab of your datapad, switch the view to the row display (instead of the icons) and count down until you get to the one you want. This won't work if you re-sort the columns, though. The numbers may depend on what crafting tool you're using (I've never tested this), so if your first number is way off, only count the ones that are craftable with the tool you'll be using.

You can do the /selectDraftSchematic command whenever you're at the schematic list in the crafting tool, so type the command in manually and back up if you get the wrong one.

Important: the number will ALSO change in the following event:

If you are standing near a public or private crafting station, these will sometimes add schematics you are able to craft only at crafting stations, and thus change the numbering of your highnumbered items.

Also, the same item can and will have different schematic numbers if craftable on multiple tools...such as bone armor is. Do not mix tools in one macro, I'm told it won't work.

If you're using a macro, the easiest way to find the schematic # for the tool you're using is to...guess...intelligently!

The # starts at 00 for the first SCHEMATIC IN YOUR DATA PAD (open it up and look), that the CRAFTING TOOL YOU'RE USING can use. (Bear with me here)

Say you're using a food and chemical crafting tool, and you want to make wastril bread.
The schematic # for wastril bread is different for a food and chemical crafting tool than it is for a general crafting tool.

So...say wastril bread is a ways down in your data pad. So for the schematic # for your food and chemical tool, you guess #20.

#20 might not be right, but run the macro and see which schematic it *does* bring up. That'll give you an idea of what #s you need to be guessing.

And remember...the # is according to *what schematics the tool can use*, as well as the position in your datapad.

And yes, the datapad schematics do shift every now and again, so you might have to re-guess the schematic #.
